Sunshine Coast Affordable Housing Society is excited to announce our Franklin Road housing development in partnership with Town of Gibsons at 744 Franklin Road in Gibsons Landing.
Thanks to the Town of Gibsons and our amazing community partners, Franklin Road will provide new rental housing units suitable for two families plus a single individual or couple.
Affordability targets are 25% below market rents for two of the units (3 bedroom and studio/1 bedroom) with the third (2 bedroom laneway house) to be rented at or near market values to cross subsidize the more affordable units. A new public laneway will provide continued access between Harmony Lane and Franklin Road, including public and occupant parking.
The project is made possible through a long term land lease with the Town of Gibsons (landowner), capital grant from BC Housing, $50,000 contribution from the Town of Gibsons’ Affordable Housing Reserve, a community fundraising effort with the goal of raising $50,000, and BC Housing mortgage.
The Sunshine Coast Affordable Housing Society incorporated as a Non-Profit Organization in 2015, after District of Sechelt, Town of Gibsons, and Sunshine Coast Regional District funded Sunshine Coast Housing Committee from 2013-2015 as a result of the housing crisis on the Sunshine Coast.
Our Board is made up of volunteers from various sections of life, all contributing to the expertise required to create affordable housing.
