Frankie's Fighters

Although Frankie appears to be a healthy 2 year old boy, a trip to the dermatologist for what appeared to be a common rash, turned into the family’s worst nightmare.  

In February 2018, Frankie was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH), which is a rare form of cancer. Frankie’s parents Vincent and Alicia Volpe have been Frankie's Fighters since February of 2018. Now they need help Fighting for Frankie.  Vincent is the sole financial provider for their family of four.  Alicia had planned to return to work once Frankie was born, but has been unable to since she is Frankie’s caregiver. LCH is not a common type of disease and is only treated by a few specialized doctors and they are not nearby.  Frankie’s doctors are in Philadelphia at the Children's Hospital and in Texas at the Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.  Alicia is shouldering the burden of getting Frankie to his medical appointments while also caring for his four year old brother Vincent, who attends the Reverend Brown preschool program. Frankie sees a team of doctors (I think they are up to 8) and a team of therapists.  Due to the chemotherapy treatments he is also seeing a sleep therapist, a food therapist and a speech therapist. While they have insurance the Co-pays for Frankies appointments are $100 everytime they go and an additional $25 for every doctor they see.  Sometimes they are traveling back and forth to Philly 3-4 days a week. This coupled with the expenses of travel, babysitting and especially missed work (Vincent does not get paid if he has to take the day to take Frankie for treatments) is starting to take a financial toll on the family.  NO family should have to face financial stress due to covering the medical care of a sick child.

We can help! We have decided to run a "Dinner and Dodgeball"  fundraiser to help ease the financial burden of the Volpe Family.  The "Dinner and Dodgeball" will be held at the Fieldhouse at the Sparta Athletic Campus and all of the funds raised will go directly to the Volpe Family to help offset the financial burden that is a direct result of this terrible disease.
