Frankie is a 23 y/o trans girl artist currently based in Chicago, IL, and the founder / editor-in-chief of trains magazine (@trainszine).
Frankie's medical insurance does not cover gender affirming procedures, in her current location, which trans people (particularly trans feminine ppl / women) need in order to live comfortably and free from physical, psychological, and emotional violence.
This includes, first and foremost, laser hair removal of the face and body. This is the most urgent and pressing concern that Frankie has, as it not only determines her level of comfortability in her body and moving through the world, but also determines how she is treated and interacted with by strangers in public. Having visibly "male-coded" characteristics, such as facial hair, can put her and other trans people in serious danger in certain contexts.
Also included in these expenses, but not as urgent, are facial feminization surgery and gender confirmation surgery. These are two procedures that both provide deep and unparalleled emotional and psychological relief for trans feminine people. In addition, they would provide Frankie with certain safeties that she otherwise doesn't have access to, such as the ability to exist comfortably in certain gendered spaces.
This initial goal of 4,000.00 USD is a projected estimate of how much it will cost to do a full round of laser hair removal, plus a small start to begin saving up for bigger surgeries.
Facial hair removal is very tedious and requires many sessions in order to bear any visible results.

Facial feminization surgery roughly amounts to 6,000.00 USD.
Gender confirmation surgery roughly amounts to 30,000.00 USD.
