Since March 10, 2018 our lives have not been the same. It started like any other day, until we received a phone call. We were notified that our mom was in the emergency room due to extremely severe pain in her right leg to the point that she could not walk anymore. After being released from the hospital with pain medication, we thought that she would be fine, but we could not have been more wrong. She ended back in the emergency room a few days later and again, was sent back home. It wasn’t until the third time she visited the emergency room that we refused to have her discharged without knowing what was casing her so much pain, and now this time around she was having difficulty breathing as well. The results we received after that were so blindsiding and the most heart wrenching to say the least.

Our mother was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer. We had all heard about cancer, but to have a loved one we all cared so deeply about, who was the foundation of our family, be diagnosed with it was unthinkable. We were then hit again with more bad news, her cancer was at a Stage 4 and had made its way to her lungs, bones and liver. There we were, in shock and disbelief; wondering what life would be like without our mom. A month or so later we got more bad news my mom was back in the emergency with severe headaches and dizziness to the point she couldn’t walk. After a couple more emergency room visits she was diagnosed with metastasis to her brain, they found multiple tumors.

To give you a little background about us, our family is not the average family; we are a family of many. There is of course my mom and dad and six siblings that all have families of our own, there is a total of 29 of us. My mother is the foundation of our family. Not one us could say that she has not played a huge role in our lives as well as our children’s lives. The thought of not having her in our lives any longer is unimaginable. We wanted her to fight for us but ultimately we knew we could not make the decision for herself, it was up to her. With the support of her family and her faith in God, she decided that she was going to fight.

Now, 7 months 15 radiation treatments and 9 Chemotherapy sessions later, the results are not what we hoped for. Our mother’s tumors in the liver have grown and the bone cancer has spread. The fight has not been easy and to hear even more bad news was devastating. But our beautiful and strong mother wants to keep fighting and to do this she will need to receive treatment elsewhere. In order to do this we ask and pray that we can receive some of your generous donations to help fund our mothers treatment plan. Our goals is to raise $45,000 to help pay for the expenses of these treatments and travel. May God bless all of you and we pray that what you give, you receive ten fold.
