Francesca Giordano

This beautiful girl is my little cousin Francesca.  She is 21 years old and a student at the University of Delaware. She loves her life. She has an apartment, her car, her friends, her family.  She was living life the way a 21 year old should and in October she started not to feel well.  

Since then, she has been in and out of hospitals running every test possible.  In mid November they found an Acoustic Neuroma, a tumor on the main nerve leading from the inner ear to the brain. On November 18th, she was admitted to the hospital and has been there since with her mom, Maria, by her side every second. 

They have been to 3 hospitals, seen countless specialists and poor Francesca has undergone every test possible. They are currently at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center.  Francesca’s esophagus and throat are paralyzed.  She hasn’t been able to eat anything for more than six weeks, she is choking on her own saliva and her vision is deteriorating.  At this point, the doctors have been tirelessly working to figure out why this is happening, but they have been unsuccessful.  Francesca is tired, she’s frustrated and she’s been suffering for weeks.  She’s afraid to go to sleep because she might choke.  She misses her life, her friends, her family, her dog.  We are praying for a miracle, and a diagnosis so they can figure out why this is happening to this beautiful girl.  

As you can imagine the medical bills are piling up, and Maria who is a hairdresser, has had no income, as she has been unable to work because she is by Francesca’s side.  Due to Covid restrictions, they will only allow one person to stay with her.  

These funds will help Francesca and her family with the mounting medical bills as they continue to fight this battle and pray for a diagnosis.
