Il mio grande sogno dopo il tumore

Era l’anno scorso - avevo 35 anni, mi sentivo in forma e soddisfatta della mia vita da travel blogger - quando mi è stato diagnosticato un tumore al seno molto aggressivo. In quel momento mi è caduto il mondo addosso. Ho passato dei mesi da incubo e in questo lungo periodo non ho raccontato niente a nessuno per conservare ogni energia per questa battaglia. Ora ho finito 6 mesi di chemioterapia (la più pesante di tutte) e sto per iniziare un mese di radioterapia. Sembra che per ora il peggio sia passato, così ho deciso di prendermi una rivincita sulla vita.
Ho deciso di dare un nuovo significato alla data in cui ho avuto la diagnosi, l’8 ottobre - e ho deciso che quest’anno, in quella data, partirò per il giro del mondo in solitaria.
In ogni tappa del mio viaggio rilascerò interviste per raccontare la mia storia e promuovere la prevenzione, e descriverò i posti che vedo sul mio blog e sui miei canali social, come ho sempre fatto. Sarà anche un modo per festeggiare con un grande viaggio i 10 anni del mio blog.
Con il vostro contributo potrò realizzare il più grande sogno della mia vita, oltre a cercare di dare un senso a quello che mi è capitato e aiutare il prossimo raccontando la mia esperienza e la mia storia.
La metà dei fondi che raccoglierò verrà donata alla Fondazione AIRC per la Ricerca sul Cancro (https://www.airc.it/), perché voglio contribuire al loro obiettivo: rendere il cancro sempre più curabile. Da oltre 50 anni AIRC sostiene con continuità il progresso della ricerca per la cura del cancro e diffonde una corretta informazione sui risultati ottenuti, sulla prevenzione e sulle prospettive terapeutiche, allo scopo di aumentare la sopravvivenza ai tumori.
E terrò aperta la campagna fino al mio ritorno dal viaggio, l'8 gennaio 2020.

It happened last year - I was 35, I felt fit and satisfied with my life as a travel blogger - and yet I was diagnosed with a very aggressive breast cancer. At that moment the world fell on me. I lived a nightmare for months and in this long period I didn't tell anyone, I needed to save all my energy to fight this battle. Now I've finished 6 months of chemotherapy (the heaviest of all) and I'm about to start a month of radiation therapy. Now that the worst part is over, I want to take back my life.
I don't want to hate the date of my diagnosis for the rest of my life, so I made the choice to give a new meaning to October 8. On the same date, this year, I will leave for a for a solo round-the-world trip.
At each stage of my journey I will release interviews to tell my story and promote prevention, and I will describe the places I see on my blog and on my social channels, as I have always done. This will also be a way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of my blog with a great trip.
With your contribution I will be able to realize the greatest dream of my life, besides trying to make sense of what happened to me, and help others by telling my experience and my story.
Half of the funds that I will collect will be donated to the AIRC Foundation for Cancer Research (https://www.airc.it/), because I want to contribute to their goal: to make cancer increasingly treatable. For over 50 years, AIRC has been continuously supporting the progress of cancer treatment research and sharing correct information on the results obtained, on prevention and on therapeutic perspectives, in order to increase cancer survival.
And I will keep this fundraising open until the end of my trip, on 8 January 2020.
