The Ironman Challenge

Join us to raise money to help give food to people in need in Southampton.

Big Breakfast at Above Bar Church  is responding to the Covid-19 crisis by working with volunteers and partners, including Love Southampton , Fare Share  and UKHarvest , to receive food donations, prepare and give meals to the people in most need across Southampton.

The volunteer team is doing some amazing work: they've already given out around 5,000 frozen meals and lunch boxes. The need is growing every day, but so is the scale of the generous donations of food.  To be able to handle the huge quantity of food they need to buy and rent equipment, like commercial freezers, to store the food ready to distribute - that's why we're raising money now. With your help they can do much more in the months to come as more people struggle to deal with the impact of the Covid-19 crisis.

A group of our children, aged 1-13, is doing an Ironman Challenge to raise money. Between them they will complete an Ironman Triathlon: 3,860m swim, 180km bike, 42km run over the week from Saturday 13 - Sunday 21 June.

Update (Sunday 14th)
The children have made an amazing start on the challenge already - firmly on track to complete by next weekend. The initial £1,000 target was hit very quickly, so we've increased the target to £2,000 - there's so much need to serve in the City and so much food being donated that needs to be prepared and stored that it's difficult to imagine raising too much money: everything donated will make a massive difference.

On Friday the team will receive another 1,000 meals to share. Here's some photos of the Big Breakfast team who are doing all the amazing work.
