Miranda's Road to Recovery

This is very hard.  I've never asked for anything in my life.  I've always been able to take care of anything that came my way.  But, this one came out of left field.

My beautiful daughter recently fought a 4-month battle with an aggressive bacterial infection that damaged her vision and ultimately required multiple risky deep-skull surgeries to relieve pressure on the carotid artery in the cavernous sinus. The condition is very rare, and she became a patient of interest for the neurological and infectious disease teams at CHKD so that they may learn how to better treat the condition in the future. 

Her 8-week run of antibiotic treatments are over, and we are now in a "wait and see if it worked" phase.  She is a very active girl.  She plays golf and is a member of a swim team.  She has been unable to do the things she loves most this  summer.  She is such a kind and caring girl, and has been incredibly strong throughout all of this very frightening journey.

It has all been very stressful to say the least.  We were not prepared for such a long and frustrating process, as well as the resulting medical bills, which continue to come in at an alarming rate.  Any contributions no matter how small will help us to offset these unexpected expenses, and will be so incredibly appreciated. 

I am truly humbled by your generosity, and as emotionally degrading as it is to ask for such things, this is for the health and wellness of my daughter.  She is more than worth it.
