Tina's Hearing Aids

My oldest friend in the world since we were 5, Tina Kat Courtney, recently revealed to me that she has been hearing impaired since birth. Tina is a lot of things to a lot of people, but more than anything she is a giver. She gives everything she can to those around her; emotionally, materially and spiritually and it's time that we all give back to her. For me personally, Tina has rescued me on more than one occasion and my life would be nowhere near as bright without her in it.
Here is her story, in her always so eloquent words.
"I have had impaired hearing since birth. In some ranges, it's beyond severe; borderline deaf. It's the one physical ailment I could never heal, and I have cried and struggled more times than I could ever begin to conceive. I avoid social situations because of it. For those who have shared ceremony with me, I want to confess that I avoided connecting with many of you after the fact, in those gorgeous, respectful, quiet voices, because I knew I wouldn't be able to hear you. It broke my heart to not be there for you, but it was harder still to try to hear, and fail, and feel shut in and isolated and completely utterly alone. WELL - there is now technology that can help me. Hearing aids that address my specific impairment. I will need months to save the cash (they are sexy pricey beasts!) but my life is going to change in ways I can't even yet imagine. The attention I give to hearing will be freed up to experience more aspects of life. Music will be so multi-layered and delicious. Your voices will finally reach me - all of me. I heard my own voice for the first time with the samples I tried a few weeks ago. It's all just. . .amazing. So I am staying in Vegas a while longer as this process completes itself. Thank you for the support you all showed for the Denvah move. We shall see where the universe takes me in the near future, but for now, the desert is stuck with witnessing me freak out over having my ears receive all that this place can give. It's a miracle.
