Fox's fight against Fibrosarcoma

Donation protected
Fox Barrett is 15 years old and a native to St. George, Utah. He is a teen with big dreams for his future (running for U.S. Senate and eventually a Presidential Bid). He is the youngest of 3 kids, and by far the tallest. He loves anything that involves politics, furthering his education, Harry Potter and Doctor Who!

In December, Fox was bitten by a spider and his leg reacted violently to that bite! After 2 rounds of antibiotics the bite healed just fine, but the swelling in his leg just wouldn’t go down. On Wednesday, February 1st, Fox came home from school complaining that his leg was in so much pain, and even had a bit of a limp when he walked. After a visit to the doctor the decision was made to get an X-ray and Ultrasound to see why his leg was still so swollen. Friday morning came, and we took Fox in for an X-ray and Ultrasound. As soon as Fox and Dad got back to the work office, the hospital called telling us that we needed to get Fox into the Emergency room right away.

After an MRI, the results came back with a cancerous looking growth being found on his right leg, and the decision was made to have a biopsy and CT scan done to determine what kind of cancer it could be, or to see if it even was cancer. After much discussion between the doctors and our parents, an appointment was made for us up at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah for Tuesday, February 6th.

After a weekend up at Primary Children's, Fox was diagnosed with Fibrosarcoma, a rare form of Osteosarcoma. He has a tumor right below the knee on his right leg, and it has now spread to 5 spots on his lungs. As a result Fox is now looking at 40 weeks of chemo, roughly 6-10 months, as well as a few operations to remove the tumor from his leg and burn/remove the spots off of his lungs.

This diagnosis has presented a new obstacle financially for Fox’s family.

As a family, we make too much to receive Medicaid for Fox, and a health insurance plan would take 75% of Fox’s father’s monthly income. Apart from the growing medical expenses that keep piling up, Fox’s parents do not own a vehicle. For the past year and a half they have been sharing a car with their daughter, and sadly that vehicle can not handle the 600 mile drive up and back.

Please help us help Fox beat cancer! Your donations will help with the growing medical expenses and transportation expenses that his parents face. The estimated expenses for Fox’s 10 month treatment are $120,000. This is just for medical expenses, not including the gas money and car rentals that my parents have to make every other week to take Fox up for Chemotherapy.

Fox and his family thank you in advance for your love, support and donations. God bless!
