Fowler Family Adoption

Donation protected
Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to read about what is going on with The Fowler’s. For the past few years we have been praying about and slowly working toward this day. Well, it’s finally here! We’re adopting!

Why Adoption?

Our desire for adoption begins with God. We have been adopted into the Family of God and this new family now dictates how we care for those in need. We know that separation from a biological family is never what God intends, but just as sin brought a need for us to be adopted we feel called to meet that need when it causes a family to be separated. This desire for adoption has been on both of our hearts before we ever met and married, so as we have walked through infertility over the past few years we feel that it is time for us to step into the desire that God has laid on both of our hearts.

Why Agape?

One of the other main things that drew us to Agape for adoption was the desire to see the culture of the child celebrated and the humility of Agape to ask questions of the birth parents in relation to the race of the adoptive parents. As a multi-racial family we a great need to allow children of color to be raised in a space that does not take away from who they are, but celebrates the unique way that they have been made in the image of God.

Why Open Adoption?

As beautiful a picture of the Gospel as adoption is we know that it was not plan number 1. Families separating and children having to leave their birth parents can be a painful journey for all people involved. With sensitivity to this we are pursuing an open adoption. It is our desire for our child to know their roots and for the birth parents to have a relationship with their flesh and blood. As tough as it is for us to admit we are are not the savior of the child that we adopt. But, we have been called by our Father to lead and partner with Him in raising a child. We also see this as a way to minister to our child’s birth family. As our child grow and we grow in relationship with the family it would be our ultimate desire that they are restored and come to see God as the ultimate healer and source of hope.

How can you help?

Pray:

Adoption can be stressful in many ways. We would love if you would join us in praying for: 1) The birth mother who will be giving up her child. Pray for her health, her salvation, and her mental wellbeing as she makes this unimaginably hard decision. 2) Pray for the health of the baby. 3) Pray for our marriage as we venture into this season. All states are different, but in Alabama a birth parent has 14 days to change their mind about the adoption after a child is born. During the first 5 days they can do this with essentially no questions asked. From day 5-14 they would have to have a judges permission. Pray for us to prepare our hearts for this time.
Share:

If you feel so moved we would love it if you told others about this journey that we are on. We know that the things that will be needed to complete this adoption are great, but we know that our God is greater.
