Imagine it's a normal February day, you're at home with your two sick children during what seems to be a mild Spring rain. By noon though, the rain intesifies, nearby neighborhoods and main roads are flooded and completely closed. You peak outside to find your own small culdesac is completely flooded. Neighbors scrambling to put sandbags around their home, their efforts in vain as you watch the water rise enough to flood their homes.
Your home is next. Alone with 2 sick children and a husband stuck at work, you have no help yo protect your own home. It also floods, the full scope of the damage not known until months later.
Imagine calling your insurance adjusters, having them come out and discover even more damage than you could have fathomed. Mold, buckled floors, leaking decaying roof...
Now imagine being told that you will get NO relief. You have to leave your home due to dangerous levels of black mold & unlivable conditions, but your insurance isn't going to help.
Imagine that earlier that month you'd dealt with NUMEROUS trips to the ER with sick children (and for yourself), not one but TWO injured cats needing urgent medical attention and follow ups. Imagine that you were ill during most this time, working full time, taking care of 2 sick kiddos and 2 injured cats and that one of the 2 bills you don't have on auto pay ends up being paid late.
Imagine that bill... was your insurance.
Imagine that one small mistake means you're now on the hook for catastrophic damage to your home caused by the States worst storms in years.
Imagine leaving your dream home, where you raised both your children. Where you came home after your honeymoon. Imagine the cost of the damage is seemingly insurmountable and there's no good option for moving forward.

Do not deserve to lose everything over a late payment. Each option available to them moving forward will cost the family hundreds of thousands of dollars. Our hope is to hold several fundraisers over the next few months in thier honor.
Top donators will receive a ticket to a gourmet banquet dinner this fall courtesy of Sage and Honey Supper Club out of SLO County (where Mindy & I met over 10 years ago).
There's not been a moment in the decade I've know Mindy that she hasn't been over the top generous, emotionally supportive and caring.
As devestating as this situation is, I look forward to finally being able to show her and her family the same selfless love and support she exemplifies everyday.
A flood destroyed their home and I am praying a flood of love & generosity will restore it.
Other ways to help:
We're looking for 1 beautiful SB area venue to host our gourmet dinner
We will need tables, chairs, space heaters, chefs helpers, linens, etc for up to 100 guests
We will need approx 2-3 volunteer childcare providers for 4 hours of the event
Lastly clean up at Mindy & Aarons is continuous, if you're available and able bodied please contact them! Thank you all.
