A New Art Form

How can historic baroque music become interesting to modern listeners today? How can new audience members be recruited to something like ballet?

In 2011, internationally acclaimed organist Hans Davidsson comissioned his two sons Jonatan and Gabriel Davidsson, both professional ballet dancers, to choreograph dance movements to three organ pieces by composer Georg Böhm. Together, they performed in front of a full house at the Korean International Organ Academy. This experiment proved very successful and the project has grown tremendously since then, adding a third dancer and choreographer Stayce Camparo, poetry readings and dramatic light effects.

Our project has evolved into a full evening concert program, entitled The ”Four Seasons”, touching on important themes like birth, love, comfort, conflict and death. It shows the cycle of life through dramatic dance movements expressed to the music of Georg Böhm, Arvo Pärt, and others. A wide range of light effects are enriched by a fourth layer of art, poetry excerpts by William Blake and Thomas Carlyle.

This program has been performed in churches, symphony halls, and organ concert venues accross 5 nations in three different continents.

During one entire week in the beginning of August, we will record all the dance movements of “The Four Seasons” (60 minutes) in a new and creative way at the beautiful facilities of the Gothenburg Opera House (GO) in Sweden. We have gathered a great team: professional light designer Joakim Brink and production manager Dan Offerlind, both from GO, to create the best possible venue for making this unique DVD. We are having new costumes made while modulating choreography to fit the many interesting spaces of the GO house.

We want to make this new art form accessible and available to all by bringing this emotionally powerful program onto a DVD.

Please help us make this dream come true. We want to move the hearts of new audiences with this unique art form.

These are some of the costs that we are seeking funding for:
Professional light designer 1000 euros
filming and editing 1000 euros
Renting Facilties 700 euros
travel reimbursements 500 euros
new costumes 300 euros
