Foundation 18, Indonesia was established by Australian humanitarian and conservationist Cate Bolt in June 2010. It is currently owned and managed independently in Indonesia by Alit Semara and his family.
Based in the north of Bali in the small village of Ringdikit (population approximately 1,500), Foundation 18 offers a traditional Balinese upbringing in line with local customs. Situated near the beautiful coastal town of Lovina Beach, Foundation 18 is raising children to be confident, self-sufficient and full of hope for the future.
Now in it's eighth year of operation, the well-established not-for-profit, registered with the Indonesian government as Yayasan Dharma Sadana, has operated from a series of rented properties, creating a sense of instability - a situation we now want to change.
This is, by far, our most ambitious fundraiser since the inception of Foundation 18 in 2010. My vision is to purchase land centrally located in our village and create a purpose built group home capable of accommodating up to 24 children, full time. Plus a community kitchen, capable of providing another 1000 meals each week, and also providing rice and other food staples to locals at subsidised rates.
Adjacent to the group home we hope to build a community centre with the dual purpose of providing crisis community services - financial assistance with education, clothing, food, accommodation and funeral services. And a local industry hub, providing employment to local women, with onsite childcare.
This will also eventually become the point of manufacture for many of the brands you've come to know and love - Pretty Fkn Embroidery, Pretty Fkn Expletives, and two knew brands coming soon.
Our $50,000 goal will provide enough money to purchase land and commence construction of the first phase of the community centre - the group home.
The benefits of this project range from just providing a sense of stability to the children in our care, to creating an immediate boost to the village economy by both employing and sourcing supplies locally, and finally creating a fully self-sustaining system which will improve the quality of life of the entire village and surrounding local farms and their families.
The money that we save in annual rent on the orphanage can be better used to expand our humanitarian services throughout the area, such as extending our child immunisation programs and providing greater access to crisis medical care, for those who would otherwise die without it.
I am conducting this fundraising activity in the capacity of International Advisor and Project Manager of Foundation 18, Indonesia. As land in Indonesia can not be owned by foreigners, the land and community centre will be owned by Yayasan Dharma Sadana, and it's Board of Directors, headed by the Foundation's manager since inception, Alit Semara. Your donation goes directly to F18 in Indonesia and is NOT tax deductible.
GoFundMe's fees and associated payment fees will be deducted from your donation but F18 takes no admin fees and directs all donations directly to the project.
