Gary Romano Father of the Year

Dear Students, Parents and Members of our Community:

I am pleased to inform you that a special member of our community, Gary Romano, is being honored by the American Diabetes Association and the Father’s Day Council, at their annual Father of the Year awards celebration on May 24 at the Riverside Convention Center. For those of you who may not know, Gary is a graduate of Poly, operates seven restaurants, and has been a staunch supporter of student athletics for over 17 years.

Gary opened his first restaurant in the Canyon Crest Town Center in 1999. Soon after, he started providing team meals to the Poly High football team. He has always believed in giving back to his community. Over the years, he's also donated meals to: King, Canyon Springs, Citrus Hills, Jurupa Valley, and Patriot high schools.   One year, all six teams made the playoffs; Gary’s kitchens had to work extra hard.

Gary has also provided employment for many high school and college kids. Thousands of local high school and college students have gotten their start in one of his restaurants. Gary loves Riverside passionately and selflessly provides team meals and jobs to his community.

Gary is one of four great fathers in our community being recognized this year.  His daughter will be at Poly next year and he loves that he’s raising her in the same community that he cherishes.

The Father of the Year event serves to raise much needed funds for diabetes outreach programs and research. Please consider supporting Gary and the American Diabetes Association for this event. Gary’s own father was diagnosed with Diabetes over 16 years ago. And, with awareness and diet, he’s healthy and still causing trouble at 79! So, your donation does make a difference!  Collectively, we can make a positive mark on this important event and help countless people in our community.
