Foster Family in Need of Car Repair

Donation protected
This past weekend our friend and fellow foster parent, Penny Hamilton, had her car break down while driving four of our son’s biological sisters from Charlotte to Asheville for some rare sibling time together.

The goal was to have a slumber party in which six (of the seven) bio siblings could get-together for some fun and bonding, and spend the night together for the first time since they were all separated into foster care more than 3.5 years ago.

Unfortunately, "Miss Penny" broke down while climbing Old Fort Mountain, just 30 miles from our house. Stranded on a treacherous road at night with her elderly mother and four kids, ages 2 to 13, she was in a bad situation both short term and long term.

"God is good", though, as Penny's mother was quick to point out when Danny arrived to transport them all back to our house... and everyone still managed to have an unforgettable weekend hiking, swimming and (a little) slumbering!

On Sunday, we loaned Miss Penny and her family our van in order to get back to Charlotte since the cost of a long term rental wasn't much cheaper than buying another vehicle, and she needed to get back right away for her full-time nanny job and the kid's school.

The mechanic has since come back with an estimate for transmission parts and repair of $3,336... which is more than she or we can afford.

Danny and I are hoping to shine a flashlight on this hard working, dedicated and big-hearted mother in the hope that together as a community we might ease her emotional and financial load by rallying around her just as she has rallied around these children. Whether you can afford a little or a lot, I have no doubt that your gift will be a blessing, and I believe with all my heart that the blessing will go both ways.

Miss Penny is a part of our family because she loves and cares for our foster son’s sisters-- but she is a part of all of us because she has committed to paying it forward on a daily basis for the greater good and for a better humanity, one child at a time.

Thank you, Friends & Family, for extending your hearts and hands to be a part of The Solution!

Natalie, Danny, Zoie, Layla, Joe & JC

P.S.
- One hundred percent of the funds will go towards vehicle repair, and are needed as soon as possible to begin work
- Her vehicle is a 2007 Ford Explorer 4x4 that aside from transmission is otherwise in good condition
