Foster children of Palm Beach County
Donation protected
Hi everybody, Holidays are here and I’m back with my 4th fundraiser for gifts for foster children.
I got to tell you, last few years have been fantastic and I couldn’t be more appreciative to those who contributed! We reached the goal each year and every child on my case load received gifts from all of you! This year looks a little different especially with the amount we need to raise. Unit 271 is carrying 56 children at this time and the rate of children coming into foster care continues to rise. My ladies and I hope to reach 5600$ leaving a minimum of 100 per child for a gift.
So for those who don’t know, I want to shed a little light as to what this job entails. I’m a certified dependency case manager Supervisor for child welfare services and I work for a non for profit organization that works in contract with DCF. I know when you hear CPS a majority of people cringe because they really are clueless on what we do, day in and day out. Some of you have personally thanked me for doing the job I do and some of you have said I really don’t know how you do it. You know, most days idk how I do it either. I comfort children whose parents have abandon and abused them then go home and hug my own and swallow the heartache and smile. I console and show empathy to parents who probably don’t deserve it. I give advice while holding people accountable. I see under diagnosed and over diagnosed mental health, addicts, babies in NICU and children with absolutely nothing. The secondary trauma is real guys. Each day I quit my job and I wake up and do it again. I also see growth, recovery, compassion and families being built but most importantly, children finding and feeling love. Child services submits referrals to providers for services such as substance abuse, counseling, inpatient rehabilitation, trauma services, Domestic violence, education, doctors and dental to people who otherwise would not be able to afford them. I work aside LEO, Attorneys and testify on behalf of the well-being of children. I become the guardian to children whose parents are in prison and those who the courts are involved with. Yes, some children remain in home while we are involved while other go into foster care or relative care. It is my hopes, that I can beat my goal from last year as circumstances changed and now I have 3 wonderful compassionate case workers under me doing all the things and more listed above.
Without a doubt I am still so very grateful for all your contributions. You helped so many children have a better Christmas and I was able to purchase essentials all the way to tablets! For anyone wondering, yes, donations do come to our organization which all workers within our agency utilize and pick through. I do fundraisers because I believe in doing this on a personal level, where I can go and get the child what they asked for, or the mother what she really needed and couldn’t afford for her baby. This year I also plan to contribute to my foster moms/dads if I am able to raise enough. Let us not forget the people who fight this fight along with us. Anyone who makes a donation will be made aware of the purchases for the children. If you can donate, please do. Anything helps. Please share this with your friends, family and on social media! Thank you for your kindness and generosity to help children in the Palm Beach communities during the Holiday Season. Allyson & Unit 271 ♥️
