Ciao a tutti, mi chiamo Rosanna e non è stato facile per me fare questo passo, le paure sono state tante, ma la forza di andare avanti e credere che le cose impossibili possono realmente diventare possibili è merito di mio fratello Claudio, un uomo di 55 anni a cui devo molto perché mi ha insegnato, tra le altre cose, il senso dell’altruismo. Lui è un esempio per me e per tanti!
Claudio è un ex Capo squadra dei Vigili del Fuoco, è stato dispensato a causa della sua malattia, resterà sempre un vigile del fuoco che ama ed ha sempre amato il suo lavoro, sempre pronto ad aiutare tutti indistintamente, dentro e fuori dal suo ruolo.
A dicembre 2021 gli è stata riscontrata una neoplasia al cervello, esattamente nel IV ventricolo, a gennaio 2022 è stato operato e l’esame istologico ha confermato la neoplasia dandole un nome “LIPONEUROCITOMA di grado 2”.
Questo tumore è raro, più comune nelle donne che negli uomini ed è ancora più rara la sua manifestazione nel IV ventricolo. Potete immaginare lo shock, ma allo stesso tempo un sollievo dato dalla condizione di benignità di questa neoplasia. Anche se un pezzo è ancora lì sul tronco encefalico, impossibile da togliere.
Probabilmente dovrà fare una chemioterapia o radioterapia mirata dopo la sua ripresa per tentare di escludere la sua crescita.
Claudio a seguito dell’intervento ha subito delle lesioni ad alcuni nervi cranici che gli hanno portato paralisi facciale bilaterale, disfagia e zero equilibrio. Ma nonostante questo si è messo in piedi nel giro di 3 mesi, avendo un parziale recupero della sua mobilità e grandi successi giorno dopo giorno.
Purtroppo però agli inizi di maggio 2022 è andato incontro ad un idrocefalo acuto, trasportato in coma in sala operatoria e salvato quasi per miracolo dai medici di Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza. Da lì inizia un altro calvario, resta in coma per circa un mese e mezzo, subisce altri interventi (valvola di derivazione ventricolo peritoneale, tracheostomia, Gastrostomia Endoscopica Percutanea) e dopo 65 giorni di rianimazione viene trasferito in neuroriabilitazione, dove inizia ad avere degli scompensi dovuti alla lunga degenza, nonché uno stadio avanzato delle piaghe da decubito.
Tutto questo tempo passato in ospedale ha completamente azzerato i suoi progressi e portato ad una condizione psico-fisica disastrosa. Oltre ai danni conseguenti al primo intervento, l’idrocefalo acuto gli ha portato una Tetraparesi con la quale sta combattendo giorno dopo giorno. Claudio dipende da noi per nutrirsi, lavarsi, cambiarsi, comunicare…momentaneamente è allettato ed usa la carrozzina per gli spostamenti, ma le terapie (fisioterapia, robotica, terapia occupazionale, riabilitazione visiva, logopedia) che sta facendo stanno dando già qualche buon risultato.
Mio fratello Claudio è un uomo che ha sempre dimostrato il suo amore per la vita, la famiglia, la moglie Gabriella, gli amici e non ultimi gli animali. Nella fattispecie i cani, infatti ha un lagotto romagnolo di 5 anni, il suo nome è Tobia che non vede l’ora di rivedere e riabbracciare.
Claudio è stato ricoverato in un centro di riabilitazione a San Giovanni Rotondo (FG) e ce la sta mettendo davvero tutta per ritornare ad essere autosufficiente e riprendere in mano la sua vita! E’ un combattente! Un vero Leone! Il percorso è duro e lungo, ma non si molla MAI!
Purtroppo i mesi messi a disposizione dall'ASL sono terminati, quindi sarà tutto a pagamento. Le stime per la sua riabilitazione si aggirano intorno ai 6-10 mila euro al mese in altri centri di riabilitazione!!!!
Naturalmente questo è un costo davvero elevato per qualsiasi famiglia.
La tempestività delle cure riabilitative è fondamentale, nella speranza di un recupero quasi totale della sua mobilità. Claudio necessita di continuare la sua riabilitazione e la famiglia da sola non riesce a sostenere le spese. Il piccolo aiuto di ognuno di noi darà a mio fratello Claudio ed a tutti noi la possibilità di guardare con speranza al lungo cammino che c'è ancora da percorrere. Claudio is an ex team leader of the Fire Department, he has been excused because of his illness, he will always remain a firefighter who loves and has always loved his job, always ready to help everyone indiscriminately, in and out of his role.
In December 2021 he was found to have a neoplasm in his brain, exactly in the IV ventricle, in January 2022 he was operated on and the histological examination confirmed the neoplasm giving it a name "LIPONEUROCYTOMA Grade 2."
This tumor is rare, more common in women than in men, and its manifestation in the IV ventricle is even rarer. You can imagine the shock, but at the same time a relief given by the benign condition of this neoplasm. Although a piece is still there on the brainstem, impossible to remove.
He will probably have to have targeted chemotherapy or radiation therapy after his recovery to try to rule out its growth.
Claudio as a result of the surgery suffered injuries to some cranial nerves that resulted in bilateral facial paralysis, dysphagia, and zero balance. But despite this he was on his feet within 3 months, having partial recovery of his mobility and great successes day by day.
Unfortunately, however, in early May 2022 he went into acute hydrocephalus, transported in a coma to the operating room and saved almost by a miracle by the doctors at Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza. From there another ordeal began, he remained in a coma for about a month and a half, underwent other surgeries (Peritoneal Ventricular Shunt Valve, Tracheostomy, Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy), and after 65 days of resuscitation was transferred to neurorehabilitation, where he began to have decompensations due to his long stay, as well as an advanced stage of bedsores.
All this time spent in the hospital completely reset his progress and led to a disastrous mental and physical condition. In addition to the damage resulting from the first surgery, acute hydrocephalus has brought him Tetraparesis, which he is battling with day after day. Claudio depends on us to feed himself, wash, change, communicate...momentarily he is bedridden and uses a wheelchair for movement, but the therapies (physiotherapy, robotics, occupational therapy, visual rehabilitation, speech therapy) he is doing are already giving some good results.
My brother Claudio is a man who has always shown his love for life, his family, his wife Gabriella, his friends and last but not least his animals. In this case, dogs, in fact he has a 5-year-old Lagotto Romagnolo, his name is Tobia whom he can't wait to see and hug again.
Claudio has been hospitalized in a rehabilitation center in San Giovanni Rotondo (FG) and he is really trying hard to become self-sufficient again and take charge of his life! He is a fighter! A real lion! The path is hard and long, but you NEVER give up!
Unfortunately, the months made available by the ASL have ended, then it will all be on a fee-for-service basis. Estimates for his rehabilitation run around 6-10 thousand euros per month in others rehabilitation center!!!!
Of course, this is a really high cost for any family.
The timeliness of rehabilitation care is crucial, in the hope of an almost complete recovery of his mobility. Claudio needs to continue his rehabilitation, and the family alone cannot meet the expenses.
