Help My Family Recover From Maria!

On September 18th 2017, my country of birth the island of Dominica was completely destroyed by the most dangerous hurricane to ever hit the country. Hurricane Maria made landfall as a category 5 hurricane with 160mph maximum sustained winds. Dominica has suffered total destruction, there have been many fatalities and numerous families are still missing their love ones. All forms of communications were destroyed, there is no electricity, the water supply has been contaminated and there is shortage of food and drinking water. I am truly heartbroken by the widespread destruction on the island of Dominica. My family is currently struggling to recover from this natural disaster. My mother’s house was completely flooded, her roof is gone and her door had to be broken down in last minute efforts to save her life. My brother and his wife sustained numerous facial injuries after a roof destroyed their home. They were admitted to the hospital, where my brother needed emergency surgery and he is still fighting to save his eye. My name is Damian B. Wade and I am proud to be from the island of Dominica. I have been living in the US for the last few years, but most of my family including my mother and siblings still live in Dominica. I am raising money to help them repair our house and to help with my brother's medical bills. All the money collected will be used to purchase supplies which they currently need like food, water, and clothing. I will also be sending my mother and siblings money to help them recover during this difficult time. I promise to do my best to help my family and the island of Dominica to stay strong and to rebuild after this destruction left by Hurricane Maria.
