For the love of Madelyn

My mother Madelyn was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 9. Growing up she did everything that she could in order to keep her illness under control.  She took her insulin and always ate the best that she could.   After many years of doing the right things her illness began to take a toll on her body, so much so that she began to experience kidney failure.  Her kidney function became so bad she was in desperate need of a transplant.

In 2004 the call came that a kidney donor had been found.  She underwent a kidney and pancreas transplant on June 28th.  The doctors were hoping that with a new pancreas my mother would no longer be a diabetic.  After what seemed like a successful surgery turned into the worst nightmare of our lives.  So many complications came about once the surgery was completed and there were just no answers as to why.  Day in and day out we would come to visit my mother, who was placed into a medically induced coma, hoping and praying that she would recover.  Months passed and things always seemed as though they were getting worse.  Words can't describe what it is like to look at your once vibrant and loving mother so swollen to the point that she is barely recognizable and have to watch a machine breathe for her.  We didn't know if visiting her on any certain day would be our last visit ever.  It was an extremely heartbreaking and stressful time for our entire family.

Finally, after many failed attempts at healing my mom the doctors found out that the pancreas that they had transplanted inside of her had burst and caused an infection to spread all throughout her body.  Once the pancreas was removed my mother made a miraculous turn for the better.  After four months of being in the hospital my mom was finally released.

Here we are now 10 years later and we are beginning to go through the same experience.  The kidney she had transplanted is now beginning to fail and my mom is once again in need of a new kidney.  Because of her weakened condition my mother is no longer able to work. This money is being raised to help cover the cost of any outside medical costs and also give my mom a little nest egg while she goes through such a trying and stressful time. So she is able to just focus on getting better.

Madelyn is so loved by so many.  She wouldn't hesitate to give you the shirt off of her back even if it meant she had to go without.  She has such a sweet and loving spirit and her smile absolutely lights up the room.  Please help ease the financial burden she is facing by giving to someone who is most deserving.  She would never ask for the help herself that is why I took it upon myself to do this.  I love my mother more than anything and if I was able to take care of her like she's taken care of me all of these years I most certainly would.

Thank you all and God bless!  Prayers are welcome, wanted, needed and appreciated!
