The day started like any other for Karen…..get up and go to work.
But by the end of the day, she would be in the Emergency Room, then admitted to the hospital, then transferred the next day by ambulance to another hospital after hearing the devastating diagnosis of Leukemia.
And within 5 days she had begun Chemotherapy. What a horrible unexpected whirlwind.
Karen is a wonderful friend to many…..she would do anything to help anyone. She is the cornerstone of her family. She is the spark at her work (a stylist at an Aveda Salon for more than 30 years). She is kind and selfless and is proving herself to be brave in the face of this thing called Leukemia.
Karen is in the beginning stages of fighting …. we all know it will be a battle. She has AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) with a mutation (FLT3) that means that she will need to have a bone marrow transplant once the chemo has cleared the way. Add to that stress the fact that she will not have any income in the face of mounting medical costs.
So we, her friends, have turned to GoFundMe as a centralized way to help…they do not charge a platform fee, and there are no strings attached to the goal set. Thank you for helping her in a real and tangible way!
