Warriors on the Green (WOTG) Veteran Golf Facility
Our Need
Veterans find it desperately difficult to readjust to civilian life after 20 years of war and military service with over 20 a day taking their own lives. However, golf is a proven, effective tool in the process of healing the invisible and visible wounds that service members and veterans face all too often.
Our Goal
Our Goal
The goal of WOTG, in partnership with our donors, is to create golf training facilities adjacent to military installation golf courses across the nation. These facilities will be reserved for the instruction, practice, and on-course play of wounded, ill or injured service members, veterans and their families.
Our Plan
Our Plan
We plan to build at least ten practice facilities on or near U.S. military installations in the next five years. These practice facilities could include an indoor clubhouse with hitting bays, outdoor putting green, or golf holes adapted to the unique needs of these wounded warriors.
Fort Belvoir
Our first facility is planned for Fort Belvoir, VA, with a large population of wounded, ill or injured service members and veterans. Additional facilities are envisioned on or near other military installations and Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities.
The Cost
The Cost
Leveraging our network of relationships and resources, WOTG anticipates each proposed practice facility, from inception through construction, to cost approximately $3 million (although actual costs will vary depending upon facility size, the amount of site work required, etc.).
