We both have similar stories and were feeling led to adopt long before we had met. We were both teenagers when we first considered adoption. We had heard the stories of orphans in China and thought that, if we could never have kids, we would adopt. After getting married and attending First Baptist Church in Richmond Hill, GA, that changed. First Baptist had an Orphan Sunday and we felt led by God to seek out information about adoption. We realized there is an orphan crisis in the world and that we were being called by God to show love and bring a family to one of these orphans. We decided it didn’t matter if we had kids or if we adopted first. We started pursuing adoption at this time and we learned that we had to wait until we were both 30 before we could adopt from China. We had to be patient and wait.
When Micah finally turned 30, we had our daughter. Shortly after, we had our son. After he was born we spent some time adjusting to our larger family, moving, and getting settled into a new area. Once we were settled, we started to feel God leading and nudging us to grow our family, this time through adoption. While we have been working through the adoption process, God’s presence has been felt in many different ways. For instance, when Micah went to do her physical, the doctor didn’t have any appointments available for nearly a month. We scheduled that appointment and then 5 minutes later the doctor’s office called us back and had a cancellation for the next day! Praise the Lord!
As we have been walking through the adoption process, we have been led to adopt a little girl from China between 2-4 years old. We have been talking to the kids about our adoption. Alina is very excited about her sister from China. She keeps asking us when we are going to go pick her up. She is looking forward to playing with her and sharing her toys with her (well most of them).
We would love to have friends and family partner with us in this adventure to bring home our daughter. As we go through this adoption process, we look forward to keeping you posted on our adventure and all God is doing along the way.
