Biking America for Mental Health

My name is David Romano, I am 22 years old, and I have a diagnosis of depression. For most of my life I struggled with the symptoms and shame of depression, especially as a male and an athlete. After many dark years I finally reached out to find the treatment I needed. Since, I have been attempting to change the conversation surrounding mental health and the stigma that is often related. For the past four years I have been traveling the country through the non-profit Active Minds Inc. doing just that by sharing my own narrative.

But I want to do more!

From April 2nd to May 14th of this spring I will be embarking on a journey to Bike Across America for Mental Health; a feat that no one else has completed in the name of mental health. I will begin in San Fransisco and finish in Washington D.C.

Too many people struggle in silence. Too many people loose their lives to suicide.  As I bike across the country I hope to engage as many people as possible, connect with countless communities, and change the conversation surrounding mental health. In doing so together we can destroy the stigma that causes so much pain.
