Alzheimer's BETTY JEAN Handicap Van Fund

Here's the story behind wanting some financial assistance for Betty Jean to have a USED wheelchair accessible van (there is NO way we could ever afford a new one). This is for my mom, who is 83 years old, with Alzheimer's dementia, and she no longer walks or can even stand. We use the HOYER LIFT to move her around the house, from bed to commode, to wheelchair or her Big Chair. She hasn't been out of the house since October 2013. Here's why we need money:
When her 86 year old husband, Marvin, got sick, his estranged family just swooped in and took over their household. His granddaughter used undue influence to get their checkbook from my stepdad -- spending almost all the money in just 6 months. They even started telling us our side of the family we couldn't come over.
That's when I had to get mom away from that toxic environment. I would have taken my stepdad too, but I didn't have a power of attorney for him. Sadly he didn't last long after that. My mother was almost dead as well when we got her, and we slowly nursed her back to a better condition. She now lives with my wonderful husband, Steve, and me.
In the meantime, my stepdad's family squatted on their home and lived for 8 months rent free. They damaged the home, didn't clean up after themselves, put trash in the yard and were generally just not fit to have a home. We eventually had to legally evict them.
Betty Jean and Marvin's 2006 red Ford Fusion was also stolen by the granddaughter, and now all these months it has either been hidden or sold illegally. Hence mom gets no use or benefit from the car that is legally in her own name.
So with little assets, sadly we have to ask for help.
Please help us get momma a USED wheelchair accessible mini van, so she can get out of the house this spring and summer. Your kind heartedness and generosity is so needed at this time. On a small scale in comparison, I kind of feel like Anne Frank who said, "In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart." And that's because of you, not them!
