Feed those in Forgotten Corners

Donation protected
In many rural areas of the world there are villages where clean water, electricity, and stable shelter are scarce. We forget about areas that don’t gain media coverage. Where children walk miles to school in the blistering sun and come and go hungry. In the small Vietnamese village of Ngan Dua (Bac lieu province) many of its residents live without a meal everyday.

Hi, my name is Nancy and I’m looking to help make an impact in communities like these. I’ve seen first hand, how these families struggle daily with basic resources (food & drinking water) being unavailable. For many families, a meal consists of just plain rice and salt or sugar. Meats and vegetables are expensive and unaffordable. I’ve chosen this village, because this is where my family grew up in poverty and relied on other villagers to survive like borrowing rice or water. Can you imagine, asking to borrow water to raise your children?

Our goal is to feed people that live in unbearable poverty in the village of Ngan Dua for 1 month. The local village office will communicate to those families of where the distribution will be held on July 12.

We are purchasing rice directly from a local rice farmer in the same village to eliminate all middle men and logistical costs associated with delivery.

We hope to reach our goal by July 12. Please help us make a long lasting impact. With any additional funds above our goal will go towards building shelter for families. I will be posting updates and footage from the event.

Thanks to Kathy for helping me set up this fund page.

Thank you Jenni for partnering with me in this journey.

Below are some photos from previous events where I've contributed to villages of Vietnam.

In 2005, my parents helped me see what everyone else lived like. We called upon the poorest children in the village that made Honors Roll and Perfect attendance at a local elementary school to feed them for a week with packages of instant noodles. We attended their award ceremony which was held outside in the School yard where children sat on the dirt ground waiting for their name to be called. I didn’t realize how much of a treat this was for them. Their eyes lit up when they knew they were getting food to take home to their parents. They knew their parents were going to be proud! I didn’t realize that they only ate rice and sugar(if they ate at all) and none of us had running water.

I swear I was dying in the scorching heat and they seemed accustomed. Today was a big day for them, so I can tell they put on their best clothes and combed their hair. After the ceremony, there were others who came up and begged for a bag of noodles. In this picture above is where I was able to hand them out.

It’s experiences like these that compel me to make a bigger impact. This time, I want to feed a village. Sometimes we forget about areas of the world that don’t get social media attention. Will you help? Your dollars go a long way in places like this.

Seniors of the community line up to receive food and supplies.

The poor children are waiting patiently in line to hear their name being called to accept their bag of food.
