This my brave, handsome nephew, Ryan McKenzie. He is the 19 year old son of Sherry and Danny MacKenzie (Dominion). Ryan has been suffering unpredictable seizures for almost 2 years. They range in strength but the most horrific and terrifying is the grand mal. Local specialists have tried a variety of medication cocktails for Ryan but non have been successful in permanently taming the seizures.
Here is a tidbit look into the life of Ryan. Ryan works at Servicom 12 hours a week, not by his choice, but doctor's orders. If anyone knows Ryan, they know he is a go getter and a hardworker. For now, Ryan is not living the life of your typical 19 year old. He is not allowed to drive, drink alcohol or do any strenuous activity and is always at arm's reach of his parents. Imagine how tough that can be for a young fella.
I do have some great news to share. Ryan will be seeing a specialist in Halifax who is determined to find out why Ryan's body is behaving in such an abnormal, unpredictable way. In order for this to happen, Ryan must spend at least 2 weeks in Halifax hospital. The doctor's will determine whether brain surgery is required. Sherry and Danny must stay in a hotel and buy meals. Presently, Sherry is unable to be employed because she must keep a close eye on Ryan. Danny was supposed to start work on Monday, Oct 23, but this is delayed due to the hospital stay. EI is their only income.
To my family, friends, Dominioners, we all know what it is like to struggle at times. Sherry and Danny would NEVER ask for financial help. I will be their voice and I will ask for them. Please, if you can, give a donation. Any amount would be tremendously appreciated and not forgotten.
