Miracle for Max

Donation protected
1 year updateWriting this at the last minute cause we just found out a few days ago and I have no time. Long story short I don’t get on here much but the past year has been hell for me mentally, emotionally, financially. Since Max got attacked and I was left with the bills, (besides the GoFundMe donations, thank you) I have really struggled financially. I’m currently working around 65 hours a week now after getting a second job a couple months ago. I’ve struggled to get by, relying on credit cards and stuff because my paychecks teaching are hardly enough to cover the payments on Max’ bills and my rent.

Max’ vet bills from the attack were around $15,000. Six months after Max was attacked he was acting strange and they found out he had a large bladder stone blocking his urine. He had to have emergency surgery that cost $5,000. Since then he has been on a special food and medicine and recently went in for a check up to make sure that stones weren’t forming still.

Well I took him to that checkup thinking he was doing great, only to find there’s another stone. Max is going in first thing in the morning for a procedure called urohydropulsion to try to flush the stone out non-invasively. It’s going to cost a little over $1,000 if that’s all they have to do. If it’s too big to flush they may do more.

I’m balling writing this. Im scared the stones will keep reoccurring. I know people reading this are probably thinking put him down already. It’s just not a situation where you have to choose whether a dog is going to suffer and die or be put down. Max is acting like his normal self, he probably doesn’t even know the stone is in there. I can’t bring myself to consider killing him off just because my finances are wrecked. I’m really praying tomorrow goes good and that they are able to flush it out. And praying that somehow by the grace of God, no more stones are formed.

I’m scared. I’m scared because it’s only been 6 months and the issue reoccurred. I’m scared for what they could find another six months from now. Apparently it’s common with his breed, gender, and his age range. But I’m really hoping and praying it stops here. Cause I won’t know what to do if he will require regular expensive medical treatments. Praying he will stay well and that tomorrow goes the best it can. Send prayers our way if can.

Five years ago, Courtney's life changed when Max darted in front of her car on the way home from work. It was meant to be from the start. Little Max was only four pounds, mostly hairless, and scared as can be. Courtney nursed him back to health after being abandoned by his previous owners. She was never a dog lover even though growing up we always had animals in the house. Max changed everything. As a dog lover myself, I have never witnessed someone who loves an animal as much as Courtney loves Max.  Ever since his four paws walked into her life, she always plans her schedule around him, ensuring he gets to go on his walks and has home cooked food to eat. I couldn't tell you what she puts in the food but I would always laugh when I joined her on her strolls and Max had corn in his poop. Max adores Courtney there is nothring he loved more than being in her presence, always waiting at the door for her to come home. Patiently waiting for the next adventure. His most favorite of all was car rides with the windows down, wind blowing on his face out the window with his moms red hair blowing beside him. Max has a wide arrangement of outfits from sweaters for cold weather and shirts just for fun. His trademark however was his bow tie. It's as if he knew he was always suppose to be prancing along with a matching leash and  bow tie. Max has all those things but what he has most is a caring mother.  Max is always up to date on his annual shots and vet visits.  If Max needed something done, she always managed to have it done for him. She would work 2 jobs and go to school and still manage to make breaks in between for walks and time spent with Max. These past five years, she has been living for Max. Max  has a huge family and a lot of fur brothers and sister who adore him. Max especially loved moving to Hawaii and welcoming baby Karson. No matter how much anyone tries to stop him, his favorite thing is giving kisses to little 6 month old Karson.. A week ago everything changed when a nightly stroll turned tragic. Courtney and Max were on there walk when an aggressive dog began running after them. Max is like a peanut only weighing five pounds so Courtney quickly pulled up on the leash when the dog began to attack and brought Max into her arms. Disaster and tragedy struck as the dog ripped Max out of the arms of Courtney bringing them both to the ground. Maxed being latched In the dogs mouth and shaken as Courtney tries to retrieve Max from his mouth in which she soon succeeded but the extent of the damage had already been done.  Max is currently in dire condition. The vet says he is fighting and at the hands of the best surgeon. Max's best interest is being taken into consideration with every step moving forward. Max will need extensive care that will require a lot of vet visits and Courtney to take off work to rehabilitate Max.  Anything helps and we really appreciate all the prayers for this Miracle for Max.
