For the LOVE of Kramer

Donation protected
Kramer is a therapy dog at an elementary school in an urban setting, he has gone to work every day with his mom (a school counselor) for the past seven years. Kramer is an 11-year-old black lab that had a rough start to life - he was abandoned, almost starved, and had heartworms when he was found at the shelter, this could have been fatal if his humans hadn't known that Kramer was what many children needed in their lives.

Kramer was adopted from the animal shelter when he was three and after surviving his heartworm treatment, Kramer’s personality made him the perfect candidate to become a therapy dog. Kramer is extremely calm, kind, loving, and patient with everyone, especially kids. Kramer went through months of training and passed his therapy dog test to become a certified therapy dog.

Kramer has worked at two different elementary schools and has helped hundreds of kids in the past seven years. Kramer helps students that are struggling in reading by having them come down to read to him in a judgement free environment. He helps students work on anger issues by being a role model of how to use self-control and is a calming presence for the students.  Kramer is an example for the students on how to treat people and is used during classroom lessons, small groups, and individual counseling to demonstrate these traits. He helps the students to feel safe at school, especially when they have experienced traumatic events. Kramer is an excellent support for the staff at school, he is the first one they go to when they are having a stressful day.

Recently, Kramer was not acting like himself.  After an ultrasound and a chest scan, two cancerous masses were found on his spleen.  He needs surgery to remove his spleen and the masses and there will be a lot more testing to monitor his health.

Kramer is a beloved member of his school family (and home family).  Any support you can provide to help Kramer get healthy and return to his job would be appreciated so much. Kramer is excited to go to work every day and this is the job he was meant to do – the kids love him, the staff loves him, and Kramer loves his job. We want to get him back to school so that he can continue to help his students and be an essential part of the school staff.

There are many children, staff, and family members that would be so grateful for any donation you are able to give. Kramer is expected to have this surgery this week so that funds are needed to help with the surgery, all the scans done that lead up to the surgery, and the after care that Kramer will need to KICK CANCERS TAIL!!! Help us support a furry family member that has helped save and support so many around him. His school family needs him back on his feet and ready to do what he loves to do best! Help Kramer continue to be the Super Hero he is!! Thank you for all your love and support!!
