For The Love of a Squirrel

Donation protected
Hello! My name is William Sells ! My wife, Paula, and I run Squirrel Haven Rescue in Galion, Ohio.  We help pay the bills and support our squirrels by having a website called SquirrelNutrition.com. We've been doing this for almost 11 years.

We have been "blown away" by the love and support we have received from the generous people who have supported our dream! Thanks to all who have given thus far we were able to put a nice downpayment on a vehicle that is more than capable of towing any response trailer we are able to obtain.

I must admit that my initial idea about what was needed was a bit over-the-top because I was thinking new when used is just as able to fill the need! As you can see by the picture ,(above,) we have obtained a vehicle that will more than meet our needs! I was able to find a Heavy Duty 2010 Dodge Laramie Diesel with only 92000 miles on it. For those of you that know diesels, 92000 miles is just barely broke-in!

We've lowered ouroverall goal to $20,000.00 because the next step will be to obtain a National Response Trailer that we will use to respond to natural disasters such as the two hurricanes that hit the US last Summer and left thousands of baby squirrels displaced and orphaned.

For those of you who don't know ,we run Squirrel Haven Rescue located in Ohio. Unlike most rehab facilities, we  concentrate not only on the care of orphaned squirrels, but also on the care and education of those who adopt and take them in to care for them until they are able to make it on their own. If you visit ourwebsite, http://SquirrelNutrition.com you will see right on the top of our homepage our motto, "Loving People One Squirrel at a Time!"

The Bible teaches that faith, hope, and love are the three most important attributes anybody can have! We love our squirrels, and we love those who love to help them when they are orphaned. I've found that even hunters who like to hunt and eat squirrels have a soft spot for a baby orphaned animal and will often help a baby squirrel have a chance to grow
and mature!

There is a desperate need for someone to provide information and education for people who find orphaned squirrels during natural disasters. Last year rehab facilities in Florida were inundated with thousands of orphaned squirrels and were begging people to take and foster them in their homes. Unfortunately, they were so busy caring for those little mouths to feed that they were unable to provide more than basic instructions on feeding for volunteer fostering individuals.

Since we are one of the few education websites on care and feeding of baby squirrel, we were also swamped with advice e-mail from hundreds of people  needing a deeper understanding of caring for their babies. Since it's easier to show a person  and answer questions face-to-face, we realized that an education response unit would be valuable to rehab facilities who didn't have the time to do the hands-on teaching needed to effectively insure that a maximum number of orphans survive to adulthood.

Our research has indicated that a regular travel trailer would not hold up to the miles of hard use we would put on it. Those with this type of experience unanimously agree that an enclosed utility trailer that is modified with a living space is a much more durable and less costly way to go for what we need.

We've lowered ourtotal needed to $20,000.00. We've already raised almost $4000.00 which was used in a down payment on our truck. I figure for around $16,000.00 we could purchase and have modified a utility trailer with a basic living quarters.

We've kicked off a fund raiser on our website also,  http://www.squirrelnutrition.com/fund-raiser.html .

We're offering a fantastic deal on all our Squirrel Nut Square products that includes FREE Priority Shipping.

We appreciate all who have donated to this point in time and look forward to seeing many of you if we happen to be traveling to or through your State! We will be posting on our website when and where we are on-the-road and woud encourage you to give us a shout-out. We'd be pleased to stop by and share a cup of coffee with you and talk squirrels!

Thanks for your time, and thanks to all who would consider a donation!

Blessings,

Bill and Paula Sells

PS. Here's a picture montage that my youngest daughter presented me for Father's Day this year. It tells our story and some of the stories of the thousands of people we've helped.   https://youtu.be/RPtJgUpHQqg
