For Matthew Boogren and Family

Hello everyone! I created this on behalf of my friend and coworker Matthew Boogren. Matt is only 26 years old and is a police officer for the City of St. Paul. We attended the academy together and have worked in the same district since; he’s someone I’ve created a friendship with outside of work. Matt is a great guy. If you know him personally, you will know he’s an all-around stand up guy. We all love his unique humor.

Matt has had an extremely tough year. I want to do something to help him out. I’m hoping raising some money can help with some financial burdens for both Matt and his family, and hopefully relieve some stress and worries.

Matt's biggest request from me was to not be overly detailed as this is all still sensitive for him and his family.

So, to make a long story short. Matt’s dad has been sick for quite some time with a few different health issues. Matt recently took a couple of months off from work to be home to take care of his dad, as he needed full-time care. Matt’s mom also took some time off of work. Matt’s dad had some procedures and spent time in the hospital. As I said, I will no go into specifics, but the medical bills are starting to pile up.

This past week, Matt ended up coming back to work and was there for two days. Matt realized something didn’t feel right and went to the doctor three days ago and was diagnosed with cancer. Matt had surgery yesterday and the doctor believes it went well. Matt and his doctor are hopeful that he will not need any further treatment or chemotherapy, but that will not be confirmed until results come back. Matt will still need to have several more appointments, blood work completed, further testing, etc., so his medical bills are also now piling up and will continue to. Matt will still be out of work for some time, and if further treatment is needed the time off will become even more lengthy.

I talked to Matt today and he is in quite a lot of pain from the surgery, but has high hopes that everything will turn out okay. Matt said he is very appreciative of anyone who wants to help. Matt said the most important thing right now is mental health support. Along with all the love, support, and prayers, I believe that if we all can donate just a little bit that it will really help relieve some of the burdens he and his family are facing during this very difficult time. I know that Matt would help any of us out in our time of need, so I want to show him that we are all here for him in any way we can be.

All who know Matt should send him and his family well wishes. Due to COVID, we can’t visit Matt or his family, so we should all make sure to reach out in some way! I know they will greatly appreciate it.

I will update everyone as soon as I have more.

Thank you to everyone who helps out in any way!
