For the benefit of Aubrey Neal

Deryk Steven Neal, 30, of Daytona Beach, Fl., left this physical world on August 21, 2017. Here is a portion of his story. He is the son of Steven L. Neal (Julie) and precedes his mother, Leona F. Mullins Neal. For the last year we have guardedly watched, guided and loved him along the way. We began to watch Deryk rewrite his story and was blessed to spend time with him during the summer. We found a sober young man rebuilding a life. We found a young man who was thinking of others versus himself. We found the kind, loving and funny boy who once occupied his being. We found ourselves rebuilding a new hopeful story again. His year of sobriety, good conversations, good decisions, and the time with him gave us hope.  Sadly, in a moment his addiction hooked of him again and he was gone. We know this isn’t the end of the story, its a change in chapter. Please remember those who are left here to rebuild a life without Deryk. But especially remember a precious girl named Aubrey, may she know one day the selfless decisions he made for her during that year of sobriety. There is no visitation and a private family memorial will occur in the future.
