For Stuart Shone's children Max, Johnny and Piper

Stuart Shone, father, husband, uncle, brother, son, godfather, cherished friend, and, in his own words ‘a music nut who sometimes gets it right on the controller’. After a 20-year hiatus from playing vinyl, 2015 saw Stuart reach out to play at an open decks’ night at the Pipe & Slippers, Stokes Croft, Bristol. A brave step for Stu and one which would see him find a place he felt safe, accepted, loved and encouraged, somewhere he could truly call home, his ‘dance floor family.’

The following years saw him challenge his physical and mental ill health to follow his dream to DJ, he became a passionate contributor to many collectives, nights, events, radio shows and live streams around the country, all the time creating meaningful and lasting friendships which gave him a reputation for being a gentleman, someone you could rely on and a protector of those he loved. His effervescent passion and ear for music and his signature ‘in the moment’ playing style was matched by his joyous humour, wonderful dance moves and pride in being a ‘twat’. After funds were raised for his 50thbirthday to buy him a Pioneer DDJ 200 his gratitude was immense, he said, ‘I’m just a normal bloke trying to enjoy life.’ That was our Stu.

Stuart was foremost a proud and devoted father and his children Max, Johnny and Piper meant the absolute world to him, they were his number one priority and pride and joy and in order to honour him and show them our collective support we would like to raise money to assist with their futures. Alongside this, there will be a range of musical tributes, including one large online event which aims to bring everyone who knew Stu together – details of this will be shared at
