Radio Scarborough's transition to FM

We are a group of volunteers who run 'Radio Scarborough' - Scarborough's ONLY community radio station. The station has been running for 8 years now and although the studio is still ( barely) functional, we really need to invest in new equipment which would enable our presenters to broadcast their shows at a consistently higher quality. 

Also, we have been given the 'go-ahead' for our FM licence which is terrific news. That will come in to effect in the not-so-distant future, (we're talking months away, not years), but it all comes at a substantial cost. Around £20,000, (to be more precise) will be needed for running on FM for the first 18 months alone and the (absolutely necessary) upgraded technology which will put an end to the blips and glitches our presenters currently have to deal with sometimes during their live shows!! This is not the sort of money we could gather by conducting a quick whip-round in a hat and is, partly, why I have set the target amount much lower than the amount we need. We don't want to scare people by showing a target sum like 20K straight off the bat!! 

We now have almost 1200 people in the FB group - Friends of Radio Scarborough  . If each one of you could donate just £1, we'd have £1200 in donations. Bump that up to £5 or £10 each and we'd be looking at somewhere between £6000-£12,000. - best case scenario and we'd be around half way to our genuine target amount of 20K. 

For 8 years our volunteers have been slogging away, giving up their free time to make RS the best Community Radio Station in Scarborough. We still actually have a few founding members!! So this is an urgent plea, a begging bowl if you like.

Please donate whatever you can to enable us to make Radio Scarborough the best station it can be, otherwise there's a real risk we'll simply stagnate and possibly fold altogether which would be  a great shame after 8 years, especially when we've finally secured our FM licence.
