Riley is very softhearted and one of the strongest kids I know. It is very difficult for us to see him hurting like this and it is difficult for us to bare all and ask for help but we need it and will do anything to help Riley. Thank you in advance.
On Aug 27th 2018 we ended up taking Riley by ambulance to the emergency room for extremely odd behavior, he was then transported by ambulance to Mayo Hospital, in Rochester, Mn., where he remains for treatment and observation. We were advised to apply for guardianship before he turns 18.
Our son Riley was born with DiGeorge Syndrome (Q22 deletion). Riley had a cystic kidney, mid gut mal-rotation, double hernia, heart murmur, and his ear canals were malformed. We spent allot of time traveling to doctors, surgeons and specialists with weeks at a time in hospitals. Riley's diagnosis and symptoms include the need for hearing aid, low immune system, developmental delays, social delays, and higher risk of mental illness.
We made it through this and things were going well. Riley is now 17, had a part time job, drivers license and made to a Junior in High school.
We thought we were in the clear and Riley was through his hurdles, so we were not prepared for this. I have taken a different job that allows me to be home every day which pays significantly less and my wife needs to take 3-4 weeks of unpaid FMLA . Along with traveling to Rochester, MN each day. We need help ensuring we can continue proper and long term care for Riley.
