For Our Betsy

Betsy Mari Lauren was only 61 years old. Betsy was a strong vibrant lady, full of life and joy. Betsy began two months ago with very bad stomach pains. She sought medical help and was diagnosed with large gallstones. It was determined that her gallbladder would need to be removed and she consented to surgery. No gallstones were ever found, but they still removed the organ. Post surgery her symptoms continued to get worse and after four weeks of misery and being told by her doctors that she just needed to eat the correct foods she visited an urgent care facility. With proper diagnosis this time she was immediately admitted to the hospital to have a bowel blockage removed. The delay caused by a negligent misdiagnosis from her Dr. allowed the aggressive cancer tumor to rupture prior to surgery and spread this deadly disease thru out her body. Since surgery our beautiful Betsy has endured a medically induced coma, the indecency of an Illeostomy bag, feeding tubes and physical agony. Now four weeks later just skin and bones are left of this beautiful lady. Had her disease been correctly diagnosed, rather than being in Hospice taking her last breaths, Betsy would have been completing Chemotherapy with a 70% survival rate.
Betsy has been married to her husband Marcus for 22 years. They met and fell in love in Hawaii and spent many happy years living on Maui, Kauai and the Big Island. Together they are proud parents to Chula their dog and Puna a gorgeous African Grey Parrot. Puna laughs and speaks in Betsy's voice wanting her owner to come home so that they could rock out to some Michael Jackson music. Instead
end of life is now coming to Betsy leaving a mound of medical debt for Marcus. We are raising money for this beautiful lady so that she can be cremated and her ashes be returned to the islands that she so loved to be scattered with Aruba her loyal Abbassinian.

Betsy touched so many people's lives with her compassion, beautiful smile and witty charm. She was elegant, beautiful and full of class. She will be missed by all those she came in contact with and especially by all those who loved her. The world is losing a great soul.
