For Noel's son, Micah.

On Sunday, May 21st, we lost a brother, a friend, a son, a father. Noel Vanderwoerd was the most gentle, kind-hearted and generous souls most of us will ever meet. His battle with stage 4 brain cancer ended after 6 months of treatment. 
Noel didn't initially have health insurance, but through the perseverance and support of Nancy and his parents was able to get the medical attention required. This was no small feat for his folks; his father Chris moving to Maui to help Nancy take care of Noel and Micah for as long as he was physically and financially able to.
This has obviously been a staggering time for Noel's many friends and especially his family. None so much as his son Micah, who will be feeling this loss for many years to come. 
Micah has special needs. He has been diagnosed as being somewhere on the autistic spectrum. He will have special schooling needs and training in the future which is why Noel's parents, Chris and Cathy, are starting a savings on his behalf. Chris Vanderwoerd will be the trustee of the money raised and will help to provide for Micah as needed.
Consider this a parting gift to Noel; a better future for Micah. I'm sure Noel would be honored to know that he has people willing to step up and help his son in his absence.
