For My Brother Aaron: Help Save His Life

Hi, my name is Princess Ross de Guzman-Biege, and I’m humbly asking for your help during one of the most difficult times in our family’s life.

My brother, Aaron Keith de Guzman, is only 29 years old. He has been diagnosed with Acute Respiratory Failure with Risk of Cardiac Arrest - happens when the lungs suddenly can’t provide enough oxygen to the body or remove enough carbon dioxide. This means the person can’t breathe well enough on their own, which can cause severe lack of oxygen in the blood (hypoxia) and buildup of carbon dioxide (hypercapnia).

When this happens, the body’s organs, especially the heart and brain, are at risk because they need constant oxygen to function. Without immediate treatment, this can lead to cardiac arrest, which means the heart stops beating effectively and the person’s life is at immediate risk. His condition has worsened over time, and now he requires continuous medical attention: breathing support, medications, and frequent hospital care just to survive.

It’s heartbreaking to see someone so young, so full of life, battling something this heavy. He has so many dreams… so much more he wants to do but right now, his fight is simply to breathe.

He is currently confined at Manila Doctors Hospital, where he is receiving critical care. The cost of ICU treatment in the Philippines is extremely high. While we are deeply grateful for the dedication of the medical team caring for him, the financial burden is overwhelming. Public hospitals are overcrowded, and though private hospitals like Manila Doctors offer excellent care, the expenses are more than most families can manage alone. There is little government support for long-term or life-threatening conditions, and nearly all expenses must be paid out of pocket.

We are praying constantly, holding on to faith, and believing that God will make a way, even when the path feels uncertain. I believe God moves through people, and today I am reaching out to you, trusting that this message will find hearts willing to help.

We are raising funds to help cover my brother’s hospital bills, medications and other urgent medical needs. Your support, no matter how big or small, is a blessing. Even if you’re unable to give, your prayers and the simple act of sharing this campaign would mean the world to us.

I know God is bigger than this illness. And with your help, and by His grace, we believe my brother will get through this and have the chance to live the full life he was meant to live.

Mein Bruder, Aaron Keith de Guzman, ist erst 29 Jahre alt. Bei ihm wurde akutes Atemversagen mit Risiko eines Herzstillstands diagnostiziert – eine Erkrankung, bei der die Lunge plötzlich nicht mehr genügend Sauerstoff liefern oder Kohlendioxid abtransportieren kann. Das bedeutet, dass er nicht mehr ausreichend selbstständig atmen kann, was zu einem starken Sauerstoffmangel im Blut (Hypoxie) und einer Ansammlung von Kohlendioxid (Hyperkapnie) führt.

Wenn das passiert, sind die Organe des Körpers – besonders das Herz und das Gehirn – gefährdet, da sie ständig Sauerstoff benötigen, um zu funktionieren. Ohne sofortige Behandlung kann dies zu einem Herzstillstand führen, bei dem das Herz nicht mehr richtig schlägt und das Leben unmittelbar bedroht ist. Sein Zustand hat sich im Laufe der Zeit verschlechtert, und nun benötigt er kontinuierliche medizinische Versorgung: Atemunterstützung, Medikamente und häufige Krankenhausaufenthalte, nur um zu überleben.

Zurzeit liegt er im Manila Doctors Hospital, wo er intensivmedizinisch versorgt wird. Die Kosten für eine Behandlung auf der Intensivstation in den Philippinen sind extrem hoch. Wir sind sehr dankbar für das engagierte medizinische Personal, das sich um ihn kümmert, aber die finanzielle Belastung ist überwältigend. Öffentliche Krankenhäuser sind überfüllt, und obwohl private Kliniken wie das Manila Doctors hervorragende Versorgung bieten, sind die Kosten für viele Familien schlicht nicht tragbar. Staatliche Unterstützung für chronische oder lebensbedrohliche Erkrankungen ist leider sehr begrenzt – fast alle Ausgaben müssen selbst getragen werden.

Wir beten ununterbrochen, halten an unserem Glauben fest und vertrauen darauf, dass Gott einen Weg bereiten wird, auch wenn wir ihn gerade noch nicht sehen. Ich glaube fest daran, dass Gott durch Menschen wirkt, und deshalb wende ich mich heute an euch – in der Hoffnung, dass diese Botschaft Herzen erreicht, die helfen möchten.

Wir sammeln Spenden, um Aarons Krankenhauskosten, Medikamente und weitere dringende medizinische Bedürfnisse zu decken. Jede Unterstützung – egal wie groß oder klein – ist ein Segen für uns. Selbst wenn ihr nicht spenden könnt, würden eure Gebete oder das Teilen dieser Spendenaktion einen riesigen Unterschied machen.

Ich weiß, dass Gott größer ist als jede Krankheit. Und mit eurer Hilfe und durch Seine Gnade glauben wir, dass mein Bruder diese schwere Zeit überstehen wird – und die Chance bekommt, das Leben zu leben, das für ihn bestimmt ist.
