For Michael Barry RIP

Donation protected

This page is dedicated to the family of the late Michael Barry.  He was just 34 years old when his life tragically ended.

Michael and Sinéad first met in March 2005 at their local night club and were inseparable since. They welcomed their first baby, Nicole (13), in March 2006 and went on to have two more children, Rowan (6) and baby Keeva (8 months at the time of her fathers death). Their family was complete and life could not have been better.

On 7th January 2019, with only a slight problem with his vision, Michael was diagnosed with a brain tumour on the back-right side of his head.  Further testing over the following weeks confirmed he had stage 4 metastatic melanoma. On the 8th February their worst fears had come true.

Throughout Michael’s diagnosis he maintained a positive mind-set and woke each day happy and grateful to be with his family, never thinking any further than the present day.  His smile and spirit was always strong and he would openly speak about his approach to fighting cancer and the faith that kept him going.

On 15th February 2019, he had his first bleed from the tumour in his brain and celebrated his 34th birthday in hospital. On the 8th March, he had a second bleed where he lost all eyesight, his swallow and the function of his right arm.  He spent all that time in the ICU, Clonmel until he was moved on March 20th to Waterford Regional Hospital.

On 23rd March 2019 at 6.38am, Michael lost his fight for life leaving behind his heartbroken wife and partner of 14 years and their three children.

This fundraising page has been set up by Sinéad and Michael’s local community to provide financial support to Michael’s family. Michael’s family also hope that in sharing Michael’s story this will raise awareness of the dangers of melanoma.

Any and all funds raised on this page will go directly to Michael’s wife, Sinéad Barry for the care of their three children.

We greatly appreciate any donation, no matter how big or small.
