<div>She has always been the kind of person who gives without ever asking for anything in return. Thoughtful, generous, and full of love, she’s spent her life caring for others—always remembering birthdays with handwritten notes, even as age and pain have made writing difficult.

<div>For years, she has quietly endured chronic pain while searching for answers. Recently, she traveled to El Salvador seeking relief. While there, she experienced a serious medical emergency and was hospitalized for over a week, requiring oxygen and intensive care. It was a frightening time, and we came close to losing her.

<div>Thankfully, she received excellent care and is now on the road to recovery. Some of her long-standing health issues were addressed, and we are deeply grateful for the doctor who supported her through such a critical moment.

</div>

<div>However, the cost of care—even in El Salvador, where expenses are lower than in the U.S.—has placed a financial burden on her. The hospital stay, oxygen treatment, and ongoing follow-up care have added up. Since being discharged on Friday, she has since experienced fevers and an increase in her inflammatory (infection) markers so she will be need to closely monitored. While the clinic has been gracious to remove the cost of admission, they cannot waive the costs of blood tests and any other care she may need during this time.

<div>We’re reaching out on her behalf to ask for help. Any contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward covering her medical expenses and ensuring she can focus on healing without financial stress.

<div>Siempre ha sido una persona que da sin esperar nada a cambio. Atenta, generosa y llena de amor, ha dedicado su vida a cuidar de los demás—recordando siempre los cumpleaños con notas escritas a mano, incluso cuando la edad y el dolor han hecho que escribir sea difícil.

<div>Durante años ha soportado en silencio un dolor crónico mientras buscaba respuestas. Recientemente viajó a El Salvador en busca de alivio. Mientras estaba allí, sufrió una grave emergencia médica y fue hospitalizada por más de una semana, requiriendo oxígeno y cuidados intensivos. Fue un momento muy angustiante, y estuvimos a punto de perderla.

<div>Afortunadamente, recibió una excelente atención médica y ahora está en camino hacia la recuperación. Se atendieron algunos de sus problemas de salud más persistentes, y estamos profundamente agradecidos con el doctor que la apoyó en un momento tan crítico.

<div>Sin embargo, el costo de la atención—aunque más accesible en El Salvador que en Estados Unidos—ha representado una carga económica para ella. La estancia en el hospital, el tratamiento con oxígeno y el seguimiento médico han generado gastos importantes. Desde que fue dada de alta el viernes, ha presentado episodios de fiebre y un aumento en los marcadores inflamatorios (de infección), por lo que necesitará un monitoreo cercano. Si bien la clínica ha tenido la generosidad de exonerar el costo de hospitalización, no pueden cubrir los análisis de sangre ni otros cuidados que pudiera requerir en este proceso.
