Time’, can be defined as ‘the indefinite continued progress of existence’. The past, which we have all taken part in, the present, which is unravelling before our very eyes and the future, which is nowhere to be seen. For Gemma, time stands still. Her time is every day. Almost a year on from her diagnosis and her time, her heart beat, her thoughts, her breath and her soul are more precious than ever.
Gemma’s original diagnosis of melanoma could not be medically treated beyond a few weeks. The severity of this diagnosis was deemed terminal by the medical community. Those weeks Gemma was given, have developed into months and months and months. When medical treatment ceased a natural approach to Gemma’s health was immediately underway. Not to be deterred, Gemma has continued with her natural treatments to this day, extending her time with loved ones and giving her the opportunity to explore new therapies. Communities, friends and family were asked to contribute to the cost involved in each and every aspect of natural health alternatives as well as opportunities to travel and be with people. Thank you for your kindness. Money raised, gave Gemma the opportunity to travel near and kind of far. To New Zealand to see friends she had previously travelled the world with. To travel to North Queensland, exploring and catching up with close family. To smaller towns, further visiting family and many friends from the past. These experiences and smaller travel opportunities are invaluable and have meant the world to her. A kindness put forward from each of you, which keeps Gemma here with us today.
Currently Gemma is unable to commit to or undertake any travel, so the sole focus is in raising money to support all natural treatments ahead of her. Personally, for Gemma, each massage, each therapy, each process, each appointment, each piece of fruit, each alternate concoction, each pill, each paste, each vegetable, each comforter, each drink, each powder, each aide, each visit and each opportunity for life, for Gemma’s life, amounts to and costs upwards of thousands of dollars per month. Thousands of dollars to give her life. We ask again.
We ask you as a community, as her loved ones, as her friends, as strangers, as a whole and as a human being .. to PLEASE give again.
To ease a financial pressure that Gemma is enduring, that Gemma’s family is enduring, that Gemma’s loved ones are enduring .. to PLEASE give again.
All previously raised monies were directed towards and contributed to her natural health treatments and travel. That money was depleted some time ago. We wish to raise funds as there are currently more and more opportunities arising and coming forward to aid in Gemma’s long-term care. Opportunities and appointments, she would like to participate in and say yes to, but costs a fortune.
‘Help’, can be defined as ‘the action of helping someone to do something’. As human beings we have an instinct to want to help people in need, an innate need to want to save people and heal them. A duty of care, to simply act in the best interest of individuals and others. During this last year, it goes without saying that it has not been necessarily easy to get close to Gemma. The physicality of being approached can be painful itself. Naturally and truthfully, fear becomes present, but please know that for each kind word, each kind message, each kind act, each kind gift, each kind smile, each kind flower, each kind visit, each kind way and each kind compliment, gem tucks it away and keeps it so very close to her each and every day.
A spirited young lady, who’s soul and personality give us her character, reveals her attitude and puts her behaviour on show. She holds her courage close to her heart, her sense of self-belief in her mind and her acts of bravery throughout her soul. Just like you and I she laughs, she hugs, she loves, she jokes and she smiles.
To quote Gemma when talking to and referring to ‘hope’, she says, ‘a single thread of hope is a very powerful thing, I choose to live my life everyday with so much hope that nothing can go wrong’.
As her lifelong friend, I will tell you, that her heart beats fiercely.
She is here, she is with us.
