For families of 39 Vietnamese who died in UK

Hello, these young people (39 total) have died in the lorry on the last stretch after a long and dangerous (and illegal) journey from the Vietnam to the UK that has created an awareness for a wider problem. Many of them are from poor provinces in Vietnam (Nghe An and Ha Tinh). Yes, what they did was illegal, but for those who have sympathy for their circumstances, and would like to donate to the grieving and indebted families; I have set up a gofundme.
Those left behind:
-39 sets of parents lost children
-25 children lost either a father or a mother
-2 children lost both parents
-2 children will be born without seeing their father's face
In Vietnam, we can send money to the families via direct bank transfer; but this is set up for anyone internationally that would like to donate to them. We aim to give about VND 35 million ($1500) per family to help with funeral costs, burdens caused by debt and living costs for several months. That is about $60,000 counting 39 victims and the 2.9% Gofundme fee. Note: One member on our team, Matthew Bergin, started with a separate fund (raised about $500) but we partnered since I have an official means to go there and distribute the money. His fund is linked below.
Plan:
1. Raise money while still in the media
2. Wait for official confirmation of the dead - the victims have already been officially named - see more here .
3. Partner with an official local organization - we are partnering with the Vietnamese government-affiliated Youth Union (Đoàn Thanh niên) of Nghe An
4. Visit the provinces with the most victims - we will visit Nghe An (20 dead) and Ha Tinh (10 dead) first in early December as we are trying to reach the fundraising goal by the end of the month. We will also go to visit the other remaining families in Thua Tien-Hue, Quang Binh, Hai Phong and Hai Duong.
4. Work with official channels to legally donate all money raised directly to the families - see numbers 3-4. I, Sasha Mai Herbert, will withdraw the money. Our team will fly to Vinh, Nghe An in early December and then travel via car to each household with our team, and will document the whole trip so you know your donations have reached the people.
FAQ:
We do not know the beneficiaries personally as this is a widescale tragedy, but we have the list of the 39 dead and the resources to reach them. This is why we are cooperating with the government-affiliated Youth Union of each province to go with us as a team to distribute your donations. I am also personally in direct contact with one of the community leaders of many of the victims.

Luis Nguyen was born and raised in Ha Tinh. He is physical oceanographer and now working in Australia doing research on climate change. He, like many people from Ha Tinh, loves the Thien Cam beach and the 99 mountain of Hong Linh in Ha Tinh. And also like many people in Ha Tinh, he went abroad to find a good life so he could help his family and his hometown in the future.
Michelle Thuy Duong Tran: Michelle was born and raised in Ha Tinh. She received a full scholarship for the University of Adelaide, Australia and for a Master's degree in the UK before returning to Ha Tinh to start a career. She is currently the founder of MSN, an education focused training institution, which focuses on English and soft skills for studying abroad. She has a dream to change the way of learning and teaching English for children in her homeland and also brought high quality educational programs and events to Central Vietnam such as GrapeSEED, IELTS, and TEDx. Currently, her company is also selected as a partner with Vinpearl Airlines in Ha Tinh to train future young pilots in English.

Tụi mình hiểu rằng sự kiện này đang là một vấn đề tranh cãi trong dự luận, người cho rằng là đúng, người cho là sai. Người cảm thông, người trách cứ. Bản thân mình là một người con Hà Tĩnh, mình hiểu lựa chọn của họ. Và tất nhiên, không thể chối cãi một sự thật là 39 gia đình mất người thân, 39 người cha người mẹ mất 39 con, 25 đứa trẻ mồ côi cha hoặc mẹ, 2 đứa trẻ mồ côi cả cha lẫn mẹ, 2 đứa trẻ sẽ chào đời không biết mặt bố. Tụi mình đang có ước nguyện gây quỹ 60 nghìn đô la Mỹ, số tiền đó sẽ đc tụi mình chia đều và đưa tận tay cho các gia đình như một món quà tưởng niệm sự ra đi nơi đất khách của các nạn nhân , một phần nữa hi vọng sự hỗ trợ nhỏ đó sẽ giúp các gia đình thân nhân chuẩn bị tang lễ, và cũng có thể là một vài bữa ăn sung túc hơn cho các đứa trẻ đang mất cha, mất mẹ kia. Nhỏ thôi nhưng sẽ rất đáng quý.

Nhận học bổng toàn phần cử nhân tại trường đại học Adelaide, Úc và thạc sỹ tại UK trước khi quay về với mảnh đất Hà Tĩnh để lập nghiệp, cô hiện tại đang là nhà sáng lập của MSN, tổ chức giáo dục tập trung đào tạo tiếng Anh và kĩ năng mềm định hướng du học. Some background from someone from their hometown:
For Ha Tĩnh-Nghe An, everything should be more understanding and empathy than judging. A bit about the land of central Vietnam if you guys wanted to know. The weather there is really shit. In the Summer, the temperature there is always highest in the country, around 40C, and the Truong Son mountain near Lao running parallel with the border stops the humid wind from the gulf of Thai Lan to Ha Tinh. Rain will be at Lao part, the hot and dry win will be in Ha Tinh. The locals called it Gio Lao (Windy from Lao). That makes summer is super hot there. In the winter, the region suffered from rain. It sometimes heavy rains for the whole week nonstop. Plus every year, there are averagely about 12 hurricanes hitting the land in Ha Tinh. And Flooding. If you watched Vietnamese television news, every years, you will see a sections of donation for people in Ha Tinh who suffers from flooding.
All of those throughout history make people there have only one thing in mind, growing up and leave the city. People even think that only unsuccessful people stay in. That is why if you guys looking for a region that has the number of bachelor degrees or higher educations, Ha Tinh is always had the most. Also, in the national entrance exam that Vietnamese highschool students take every year to graduate high school and to enter university, Ha Tinh always has the higher score among the whole nation. The reason is that like me, growing up, parents constantly tell us one thing, if not study hard; I will have to stay back in the province. Those studied well, they will have a job somewhere else.
But not everyone could really study. A lot of people choose to work, as a worker, mechanics, constructions, all short of life. Back 20 years ago, those usually move to the south. The reason is southern people, they don't know how to save money. They know how to make money, but they don't save them up (western way of life I think). So people from Ha Tinh moving there and then building a life.
But like 10 years till recently, people try to move to other countries, like Japan, Korea, Australia... to work. They hope that they can work for a bit of time, make a sum load of money, then bring them back home.
Things got worse when the environmental disaster happened back in 2016. Then people losing jobs, those that were fisher now have nothing to do. The regional economy went down badly. Some of the towns even look ghostly. That is when the number of worker want to go overseas spike up.
A lot of organizations, companies, even gang members, try to do marketing, telling everyone that there is a better life at foreign lands. If you even go passed the city, you can count not less than a hundred Japanese language study centers, all of them have only one purpose, teach fundamental Japanese and helping people to go to Japan to be a worker or student visa but go out to work as workers. You stuck between choices, stay home and doing nothing and be poor, or maybe just play big one in life, borrowing money from bank, go to a new country, make a sum load of money, then go back, maybe changing the life.
That is also when Ha Tinh became blacklisted by so many countries. If my parents now, for example, want to apply a visa to visit me, they have to bring a shit load of paperwork, finance evidence, job, letters from an official authority, property owner evidence etc, to just get a tourist visa.
And then, there is an ads saying that, hey, going to UK, making 1.5 billions Vietnam Dong per years, just be in a farm, growing weeds. Others will go to work in nail salons, restaurants, etc. Well, 1.5 billions is like life changing not only for just one person, but the whole family.
That is why those young people, getting in the container and even risk life to be in the UK. I just want to tell the whole picture.

A lot of organizations, companies, even gang members, try to do marketing, telling everyone that there is a better life at foreign lands. If you even go passed the city, you can count not less than a hundred Japanese language study centers, all of them have only one purpose, teach fundamental Japanese and helping people to go to Japan to be a worker or student visa but go out to work as workers. You stuck between choices, stay home and doing nothing and be poor, or maybe just play big one in life, borrowing money from bank, go to a new country, make a sum load of money, then go back, maybe changing the life.
That is also when Ha Tinh became blacklisted by so many countries. If my parents now, for example, want to apply a visa to visit me, they have to bring a shit load of paperwork, finance evidence, job, letters from an official authority, property owner evidence etc, to just get a tourist visa.
And then, there is an ads saying that, hey, going to UK, making 1.5 billions Vietnam Dong per years, just be in a farm, growing weeds. Others will go to work in nail salons, restaurants, etc. Well, 1.5 billions is like life changing not only for just one person, but the whole family.
That is why those young people, getting in the container and even risk life to be in the UK. I just want to tell the whole picture.
