For Emery and Thomas
My name is Miranda. I’m Noah’s wife, friend, and mother of his children.
Noah was a combat vet with a Purple Heart. He was injured 16 years ago in Ramadi Iraq. He came home a wounded soldier. I never knew him in his military days, but from stories and his friends I know that he loved it but also hated it. He struggled with PTSD and as of August 24th 2021, he lost that battle. This is so very hard to do because the more I do, it’s official. Noah was such an amazing person. He was loving, caring and always there for us. He gave me my dreams. We made a life together and more importantly he gave me our kids. Emery, 9 and Thomas, 13. He loved his kids with everything he was. They were always first in his books. Emery was his little koala and Thomas was his genius. He adored them so much. Noah had big plans to give the kids their best future.
It’s very hard to ask for help. It’s been me and him for 11 years. He has always been my rock, the person I run to when I needed something. To wake up and not be able to ask him what to do is so hard. He use to tell me “Miranda, you’re strong and beautiful and I know you got this” I’m trying to hold on to that. I tell the kids the same thing now. It’s only us three now.
