Hello. My name is Nikki Williams. I'm the daughter of a very special person that was touched the lives and hearts of very many people, and his name is Dave "Big Daddy" Williams. And I'm sure most of you know who he is, because he's well known for his musical talents. And, because once you meet him, it's hard to forget him.
On Tuesday, November 28th, Dave was experiencing some chest pains. The following day, Mom (Kathy) and Dad went to the doctor, where they ran some tests and sent him home. Later that same day, the chest pains intensified, and Mom took him to the hospital, who sent him to The Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln, via ambulance. He suffered a minor heart attack, and needed to have open heart surgery to remove the blockage. The surgeon was impressed with the procedure, and explained that parts that were not functioning properly before the surgery, are now back to functioning as necessary, and he will feel better once the healing process is complete.
He spent 9 days in the Nebraska Heart Hospital, where the staff was exceptionally friendly, and made you feel right at home, as much as possible. After over a week, he was able to come home. Dad needs 24 hour supervision for his six week recovering process, which means Mom had to take an unpaid leave of absence from work. Without any income, making ends meet will be nearly impossible, and added stress.
We've recieved so much love and kindness from our friends and family. And there aren't words powerful enough to express how thankful we are for each and every one of you that was lifted our spirits during this hard time. But now, I'm asking you for a little more help. I want to give my loving parents a special Christmas gift this year, by raising money to help lift some of the financial stress, so they can focus more on the road to recovery.
