For Christy Garcia-Mata's Loved Ones

Christy Garcia-Mata passed away tragically on Monday, June 28, 2021, after being washed away by floodwaters in the Franklin Mountains while hiking with her husband.

She leaves behind her beautiful seven-year-old son, Jabril, loving husband, Gabriel Mata, devoted parents, Mary Rubio-Garcia and Dan Garcia, adoring sister Sarah Garcia, and many extended family members and friends.

Christy was a beautiful soul whose kindness, happiness, and optimism brought so much goodness into this world. She was a passionate teacher who loved to sing, dance, and care for people. Christy adored music and the outdoors and traveled the world with her husband and son.

Family and friends who knew Christy describe her as loving, genuine, humble, motivating, accepting, honest, and "the kindest person they ever met." Her smile would light up any room and could win anyone over. Christy had a way of making people feel her light and love upon meeting her. She had a love for all, her family most of all. Christy was a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to so many, and her loss is devastating to all.

This fundraiser aims to assist Christy's immediate family will all costs associated with this tragic accident. All proceeds will be given to Christy Garcia-Mata's family.
