With Love, For Chass Grissom

Chasity Grissom (preferred pronouns she/her). 35 year old Black, Queer Womxn from Louisiana with great community relationships in her second home, Durham North Carolina. You probably know her as your favorite mixologist, bar manager, and/or service industry specialist at Beyu Caffe, Cocoa Cinnamon, Bull McCabe’s, Goorsha, and Jeddah’s Tea. In 2020, Chass founded Parle Coffee Co. during the COVID-19 pandemic to support herself. 

Background

In June 2018, Chass was diagnosed with late stage three cervical cancer. It was recommended she begin rigorous radiation and chemotherapy once per week for several weeks. While undergoing treatment in August 2018, the cancer had spread to Chass' lymph nodes forcing her to take a short leave. She was unable to perform her duties at Cocoa Cinnamon. Thanks to this community's help, Chass has been able to undergo a successful hysterectomy, as well as receive treatments at a facility in Baja California with a recommended follow up twice a year, or annually at the least. Chass has been in remission off and on since 2019. 

The Cancer Has Returned, Again.

 Chass will need to undergo chemo and radiation treatment again, this time to help take care of cancerous cells impacting the spinal cord, the left ventricle of her heart, where the aorta runs down to the abdominal area and the liver. She is in need of financial and moral support immediately.  Chass' Durham family has decided to reactivate the GoFundMe for a third time, with hopes to reach the final goal of raising $100,000 so that Chass can pay for the care she needs without worrying about one more thing.
