Help for an Unpaid Front Line Hero

Kathryn Jones (Kathy) is an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with a challenging patient base. She treats cardiac, pulmonary, renal, and high acuity internal medicine patients requiring significant attention and a great deal of expert care.
In early 2019, long before the pandemic of 2020, when her previous employer/physician stopped paying her and his staff, this front line caregiver continued her mission without hesitation… or compensation.
Since that time her continued home visits have become somewhat legendary, and the life-blood of a broad range of patients with few, or no alternatives. These patients cannot be out of the home without significant difficulty, ambulating, oxygen 24/7, profound weakness, and multiple co-morbidities on each of their lists.
Not surprisingly, in spite of taking all PPE precautions, Kathy acquired COVID-19 and her mission had to be put on hold. As her recovery progressed it became obvious there were post-infection issues and and she was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism secondary to COVID-19. Thanks to excellent hospital and physician care Kathy has now tested negative multiple times and continues her treatment for the pulmonary embolism. Unfortunately without insurance the cost of this care is accumulating and must be paid out-of-pocket.
Kathy is now returning to caring for her patients, still unpaid as she is not yet authorized to bill any insurance companies, including Medicare.
Almost two years now without income, Kathy never asks for payment when seeing her patients, many of whom have been under her care for years. Her financial situation is quite dire having exhausted her savings/401K and sold any assets of value. In order to continue caring for this patient population she needs the help of this campaign.
