One last game for Joel (Football fundraiser)

On the 18th march Joel Darlington, 20 was found dead at his home in Gellifor. Joel was a bubbly character who always had a smile on his face, he was a genuine nice guy and and will be deeply missed by everyone

In remembrance of Joel, former Ruthin team mates have decided to raise money for him/ his family. A game will take place on the April 19th friday night 6:30 ko at Lon Fawr pitches between his former team vs the year above  Ruthin team (at the time) It would be great if we could get as many people down as possible to come and watch and show support for Joel and also the teams! 

Joel had played for several local football teams and was remembered as an "incredible talent." 

as news of Joel's death circulated, tributes were paid.

In a statement, his former club Bala Town FC said: "Joel first played junior football for Ruthin before signing for Bala Town Academy.

"He then went on to sign for Shrewsbury for four years before returning to Maes Tegid, signing for the first team in January 2017.

"Joel also represented Wales at youth level and was the academy’s top goalscorer during 2016/17.

"On behalf of Bala Town Football Club and Bala Town Academy we would like to express our deepest condolences to all of Joel’s family and friends.

"RIP Joel."

He also played for Llangynhafal FC in the Llandyrnog and District Village Football Summer League.

In a statement, they said: "Joel Darlington was a gifted footballer, but more importantly a deeply valued friend.

"Many of the lads have memories with Joel that will be cherished for a lifetime.

"We send our deepest condolences to Shaun, Dawn, Chris, Kyran, Lauren, Joel’s extended family and his friends.

"A big presence both on and off the pitch, we will miss you dearly Joel, rest easy up there mate."

The talented footballer also played for Denbigh Town Football Club, after being signed in June 2017.

They said: "Joel was an extremely talented local footballer who signed for Denbigh in the Summer of 2017 and we hoped would play for us for years to come."

The club's first team co-manager Dewi Llion added: "He was an incredible talent. A laid back and genuinely lovely lad."

He had previously been given a six week trial at Manchester United, but it had to be cut short after he broke his arm.

Denbigh Town Football Club said he spent four years with Shrewsbury Town as a youngster, and narrowly missed out on a Youth Training Scheme contract.

He also played for Llangynhafal FC in the Llandyrnog and District Village Football Summer League.

RIP Joel, this game is for you.
