Food Water Supplies Uganda Orphanage

We are the center of Love Children Ministry in Uganda, Africa. Our soul purpose is to provide for the needy and orphan children under our care with the basic needs for survival and life. We currently care and love 35 children. We also welcome and help any other individuals around our community. When growing up in poverty children are faced with multiple challenges. The main ones we see are most peoples basic needs like : access to clean water, hunger/malnutrition and medical services. By being a non-government funded charity, we are asking for help, prayers, and your voice to spread awareness of who and what we are.
Our center is currently governed by Kuteesa Julius, who is an Ugandan by birth. This is very near and dear to his heart due to his own experience growing up within an orphanage. This is what inspires and motivates him for each child in our center. Every day he tries to help these children overcome and conquer the same struggles he once had to face. Even though this not an easy task, through love, compassion, and help he knows this is possible for each child.
Right now, clean water is one of our greatest challenges. We are currently collecting water from such a great distance from where our orphanage is located. This makes it hard to provide enough water for each and every child. Besides distance being an issue, many times within our rainy seasons, the flooding brings unsafe and contaminated water into our wells from where it passes through. These issues lead to an increase risk of developing typhoid. A bacterial disease that spreads through contaminated food and water or close contact. Typhoid kills people in Uganda everyday. Our mission is to be able to provide purified water for our center. This can be achieved by the purchase and installation of water filters.
In addition to the lack of clean water, another struggle we face are the shortages of food. Supplying basic amenities for 35 children is very expensive. Nevertheless, it remains essential. Being one of the poorest countries, Uganda already has such a high percentage of individuals who are at constant risk of starvation. The bare minimum for each of our children’s food consumption is around $5 each day. Our 35 kids roughly costs us around $200 each day. With the lack of support from our government, raising $6,000 per month poses as a major obstacle at the Center of Love.
We Thank God for each and all of our local and international supporters. Our local supporters help us with the food donations, which is wonderful, but is only possible within the harvesting seasons. Our International supporters assist us with donated funds that we rely on to get us through the rainy seasons of the year. Many days we end up having nothing to eat at our orphanage. Unfortunately, our days without food are far too common.
We try to look on the bright side and find the light in each moment and situation. Our plan to overcome the daily food struggle is to purchase a plot of land here in Uganda. This will cost us around $15,000 for the property that we have found. By doing this, it will provide us with the life saving ability to cultivate our own food and provide for our children even in the rainy seasons! So to all our brothers and sisters we have come to ask for your help in achieving this goal. By acquiring these water filters, providing a sufficient amount of food, purchasing mosquito nets to sleep under, and obtaining first-aid kits, we will be able to prevent many of these harmful diseases and struggles that constantly plague us. With your helping hands we will be able to keep these children and many more who are in need alive, healthy, thriving and smiling.
