Food for Peace: Oslo meets Bogota

Da har du muligheten nå! Jeg heter Sara Lisa Ørstavik, og jeg er opptatt av hvordan god, lokal mat og måltider lagd med omtanke kan bringe mennesker sammen, skape empati, og bidra til mer fredelige samfunn.
Jeg har jobbet med mat og kokkelert i Colombia (der jeg startet en bedrift, BogotaPopUps), Oslo (Maaemo ), og New York (Blue Hill at Stone Barns ). Det siste året har jeg studert matkultur ved "Slow Food universitetet" i Piemonte, og nå jobber jeg med masteroppgaven. Denne går ut på å studere hvordan mat, og opplevelsen av å spise sammen, kan bidra til fred i den colombianske konteksten. 
Jeg vil organisere to Food for Peace pop-up arrangementer i Bogota i tidlig mars. Disse vil være gratis å komme på. Tolv personer fra vidt forskjellige bakgrunner (økonomiske, politiske, sosiale og ideologiske) vil bli invitert og vil samles rundt et middagsbord i et unformelt og koselig lokale i Bogota. De vil bli servert et hjemmelaget måltid med lokale, organiske varer som følger Slow Food-prinsippene av "good, clean and fair." Gjestene vil ikke vite på forhånd hvem de andre som kommer er - de skal bli kjent i løpet av middagen. Gjestene vil bli intervjuet uken før og uken etter middagen. Svarene deres, samt observasjonene mine fra middagene, vil bli brukt til å fullføre masteroppgaven, hvor jeg får veiledning av Jon Vidar Sigurdsson ved UIO samt av UNISG i Piemonte.
Derfor søker jeg din hjelp! Jeg ønsker å samle inn penger nok til å gjøre det mulig å organisere og dokumentere middagene. Pengene vil gå til:
- betale mat, lokale, og transport for alle gjestene
- betale en assistent i Bogota til å sende invitasjoner, følge opp, finne et ideelt lokale, organisere transport, innkjøp av varer, og leie inn nødvendige materialer (tallerkener, glass,..)
- dekke noe av Sara Lisas flybillett til Colombia
- betale en fotograf til å dokumentere middagene

Would you like to contribute to a resarch project about peacebuilding in Colombia?

This is your chance! My name is Sara Lisa Ørstavik, and I am passionate about how well-made food, and the act of eating together, can bring people together, engender empathy, and contribute to more peaceful societies.
I've worked with food and cooking in Colombia, where I started a business called BogotaPopUps, in Oslo (Maaemo ) and in New York (Blue Hill at Stone Barns ). The last year I have studied food culture at the "Slow Food University in Piemonte in Italy, and I am currently writing my master's thesis. The thesis is a social research project about how food, and the experience of eating together, can contribute to peace in the Colombian context.
In order to finish collecting the qualitative data for the research, I need to organize two Food for Peace pop-up events in Bogota in early March. These events will be free to attend. Twelve people from different economic, social, political and ideological backgrounds will be invited and gathered around a dinnertable in an informal and cosy location in Bogota. They will be served a homemade meal made with local, organic produce that follow the Slow Food principles of "good, clean and fair." The guests will not know who the other attendees are before they arrive; the idea is that they get to know each other over the course of the meal. The guests will be interviewed the week before and the week after the dinner. Their answers, as well as my observations from the events, will be used to complete my thesis.
This is why I am seeking your help. I wish to raise the necessary funds to make it possible to hold the two free Food for Peace events in Bogota and to dokument them. The funds will be used for:
- paying the food costs, the location, and the transport for all guests
- paying an assistant in Bogota to send invitations, follow up, find an ideal space, organize transport, organize purchase of food and rental of necessary materials (tableware, chairs, etc.)
- covering some of Sara Lisa's flight to Colombia
- paying a photographer to document the dinners
